PPP is a data link layer protocol with network layer services and it uses Network Control Protocol (NCP) component to encapsulate multiple protocols.
I want to ask that if PPP encapsulates NETWORK LAYER protocol information over point-to-point links, then how can it encapsulte CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) which is a data link layer protocol?
Can anyone help me in this matter?

CDP is a Layer 2 media- and protocol-independent protocol, that runs on all Cisco-manufactured equipment, including routers, access servers and even switches.

hope it helps, siegi
