I am just finishing Cisco's Networking Academy--I would recommend this approach so that you can learn to answer cisco's tricky way of questioning. Go to cisco's home page and search for a academy in your area.

Since you have no experience on cisco-devices, but already some of networking-knowledge, I would fly over one of the study-guides from:
sybex / todd lammle
ciscopress / odom wendell
just to get a feeling on the topics and
prepare a little bit for the icnd-course.

then you should visit the cisco-icnd-course.

then you should do the real study of icnd/sybex/ciscopress-sources and at least take several practice exams in book-style:
syngress / test yourself - practice exams
(have a look at www.amazon.com searching for ccna)
or web-style: www.boson.com www.techmindworks.com www.transcender.com

and if you have any possibility,
borrow a router for the time of studying.
if that is not possible, you should use lammle's e-lab-simulator, to get hands on.

but you need not study all of that material :-)))

hope it helps, siegi

Thanks lads for the timely response,

I've had a look at Cisco's home...eek!
Theres a mass of information there, oh well what the heck Ms 70-240 & CCNA here I come (may be I'm just mad to take on 2 Certs at once).

I'll keep you posted as I progress.

have a look at the customer-rating at this site and build up your own mind...

Thanks edlinger,

i think I'd be stupid not to get it then

there are two good sources:
odom wendell: for in-depth-knowledge
todd lammle: for exam-prep (easier to understand)
you can find customer-ratings for both at the amazon-site.
just search for ccna+lammle or ccna+wendell

please use the search button at this site (examnotes) too.
there are sooo many entries you can find for: todd, lammle, odom, wendell, sybex, ciscopress

it depends on your reading preference.
most of them prefer lammle with e-trainer.

I think it's a good choice.
