| Yes , every port has a mac address. | |
|
| I didn't think their was, in fact I'm be very surprised if that true. | |
|
| I THINK IT IS EVERY INTERFACE THAT HAS A MAC ADDRESS AND NOT PORT E.G sERIAL/EHTHERNET/FAST ETHERNET INTERFACES. | |
|
| Again I could be wrong,BUT I also think that each port is a single interface.i.e 24 fastethernet ports. | |
|
| Data-link addresses sometimes are referred to as physical or hardware addresses. Data-link addresses usually exist within a flat address space and have a pre-established and typically fixed relationship to a specific device.
As with most data-link addresses, MAC addresses are unique for each LAN interface of a device from what i have read up -
can any one engligthen us further on this subject | |

| Each switch port has its own MAC address...
Log into your switch and type a sh int e0/x where x is a different port number and you'll see different mac addresses for each output.
Hope this helps | |
