Yes , every port has a mac address.

I THINK IT IS EVERY INTERFACE THAT HAS A MAC ADDRESS AND NOT PORT E.G sERIAL/EHTHERNET/FAST ETHERNET INTERFACES.

Again I could be wrong,BUT I also think that each port is a single interface.i.e 24 fastethernet ports.

Data-link addresses sometimes are referred to as physical or hardware addresses. Data-link addresses usually exist within a flat address space and have a pre-established and typically fixed relationship to a specific device.

As with most data-link addresses, MAC addresses are unique for each LAN interface of a device from what i have read up -
can any one engligthen us further on this subject

Each switch port has its own MAC address...

Log into your switch and type a sh int e0/x where x is a different port number and you'll see different mac addresses for each output.
