| I am trying to connect two computers through a hub. One will have NT Server and the other computer will run NT Workstation.
The 8 port hub has an RI and RO inputs with rj 45 connector inputs. Any idea what these are for? | |
|
| I THINK THE R1 AND R0 ARE USED TO CONNECT HUBS IN A CHAIN | |
|
| Sounds like the Ring In and Ring Out ports in a token ring environment.

| That's exactly what it's for. RI is Ring In and RO is Ring Out. If they are rj45 connectors, they may connect to fiber converters to connect your Mau to other Mau's in a token ring network with a fiber backbone. You don't have to use them to connect a server and workstation through the hub. Just connect the server in one of the 8 ports and the wrkstn in another port. I hope you are not using ethernet cards. If you want to connect a Novell server and workstation together just get some ehternet cards that use thin ethernet coax and use that with 50ohm terminators. That's what I have at home. I have win98 ICS on a pentium II, win95 on a pentium 233, and a combo Novell, Linux, DOS box all connected with thin ethernet coax. Works like a champ. Never have a problem and all computers go out through the 98 machine with Internet Connection Sharing. |
