Author Practice Exams

2000-10-25, 1:23 am

I know this question has been asked before but since things change so rapidly, I wanted some current input. Also, I am not looking for practice exams to substitute for real studying (I've read Sybex 3x, ICND, plus study notes, and router configurations). I find that practice exams help embed the information into my brain, which will hopefully filter out on the "real" exam I understand the concepts but need to get some of the acronyms incorporated into my knowledge base. What are some of the best exams out there?? boson, techmindworks, etc....

Thanks

Aktribes,

During my study, after following a classroom course, I used the Ciscopress ICND book, and used Boson tests (all three of them) in preparing for my exam. I must say that these Boson test are very helpfull. I also used Exam Essentials tests, but I wasn't quite fond of these.

Good luck

6Pack & Skip,

Thanks for the reply!!! I have looked at both boson and techmindworks. What I hope to get from either of these practice exams is the process of moving the information from the dark recesses of my brain to the forefront of my running-config I find that if I don't know the answer to a question in the Sybex book, it comes to me as soon as I am cued by the first couple of words I read in my study notes. So basically, I know the info is in my brain, just not easily accessible at this point. Out of the boson tests, which of the 3 were the most helpful?? and has anyone else had luck with CheatSheets?? I will probably try techmindworks since they are cheap enough. Thanks again for all your help

Aktribes,

I worked with all three of the Boson tests, but I can't say which of the three was the most usefull. To me it didn't make much of a difference. If you decide to buy a Boson test you probably better start with the first one. But on the other hand Techmindworks is cheaper and from what I hear from Skip, who is someone you can rely on in matters like this, it seems to work well too.

Good luck

guys I got the software online with a crack for it for free. Ive been told it worked. I only have boson test 1 but I need all of them. does anybody know if the crackz work??

about the crack. Let's not talk about cracking software or getting cracks for it here. The CCNP forum is all about that and its bad. Lets just talk about cisco related material. The thing I am against with cracking software, especially Boson, is that people that make the software need to make a living to. Its not like you are getting a $1000 piece of over charged software (like ms office) but you are only paying $29.99 for boson. The people at boson don't charge much for their software and if a lot of people keep on cracking it instead of paying for it, then they would have to increase their prices, effecting everyone!!! And that's not cool.

How would you feel, after all your hard work, that some one went out and bought their way and got their CCNP. Where you had to study your butt off to get it, this person didn't, and then he got highered over you. You would hate the guy and be pissed off because you want to make a living. Lets just say that more people like this guy who bought his CCNP (paper CCNP) enter the market and get highered. Then Employers see that these CCNP's can't do anything or are only book smart. Then the Employers start to pay less for these CCNP's and their market value really drops. This is exactly what happened to MCSE's. I am an MCSE (worked hard for it) and know my stuff. But putting on my resume that I am an MCSE means nothing because tons of people have it and don't even know how to install a hard drive. This makes me worthless!!! Have have to let my experience take. I have a Family and I need to support them, so this makes me upset!

We don't want the same think to happen to boson and having to increase their prices. What ever you do is your choice. We live in a free country. But lets not take about pirating software and remember there is a consequence for every action you take.

Good luck on your test
