Following are some questions I got from Internet and study guide.
It seems the answer for these questions varies.....

Q: Based on speed and cost, which Internet bandwidth link type would be the best choice for a small ISP serving 100 dial-up users?

A: T3
B: 56K
C: ATM
D: T1

I select D but passitnow.com shows A as correct answer.

Q: Which network hardware device will improve network performance?
A: Cache
B: Router
C: Bridge
D: Hub

I select B, but passitnow.com shows D as correct answer.

I also find at least 2-3 errors on the practice exams....

For your first question, T1 sounds best. The ISP needs to connect 100 dial-up users at (let's say) an average speed of 56K. If the ISP uses the rule of thumb that 10 percent of subs use bandwidth at once, they need to build to an average use of 560K at any given time. That means the T1 gives them the 560K they need plus enough headroom for spikes (1.544Mbps). The T3's too much and too costly. ATM isn't relevant to the question, and 56K is a trick answer (the question is how much bandwidth the ISP requires, not the speed of the user's connection).

The second question's just a tiny bit vague, leaving both a and d as possible answers. If the hub has switching capability then yes, it will improve network performance by cutting down on overall network traffic. But caching, be it a dedicated box (HARDWARE), software or even a service solution, will also improve net performance. The key, I believe, is that the question is about hardware and traffic on the network itself, not traffic from the outside. I'd go with d.

I hope I've helped. Good luck.

don't see how a hub would improve performance on a network it passes everything

a bridge would be my choice seeing as how a bridge use's mac address's to move packets therefore eliminating as lot of unnessecary traffic

I think he's right. That's my point about the question being vague. If the hub were "intellegent" (to use comptia's definition) enough to do this, it would actually be a switch, not a hub, except on Wednesdays, when it would be a Royal Phizbin, and on and on and on and on and on. A bridge used to segment a network would speed things up.

And if I were intellegent enough to spell intellegent correctly the first time, I'd be very intelligent indeed.

Passitnow.com seems to have an awful lot of incorrect answers on it. I counted 10 in the frst 2 i-net tests.
I have to say, dumps like this are a good example of why you need to study.

Actually it is a clever ploy of theirs to discredit all braindumps. BTW, once you can spot the errors, you are doing good!
