Just a little curious about this one.

Why would someone want to gain CIW Status. I know you get a CIW cert just by passing the I-Net+ Exam for a processing fee of 95 bucs.

But why would someone want to do this anyway? Does this cert carry more weight than I-Net?

For starters, the $95 is less than the $125 it costs to the CIW Foundations exam. You also wouldn't have to study for the CIW Foundations test.

CIW certifications focus on web design, web development and network security. If you are interested in getting a CIW certification in any of those areas, you might want to consider using your I-Net+ plus $95 to get the CIW Foundations cert because it is a requirement before you can start taking the higher level CIW certs. Also, note that if you want to get the CIW teaching certification, you need to pass Foundations. I-Net+ doesn't apply to the instructor cert.

Good Luck!

I don't know about anyone else, but neither cert on their own are carrying any weight. However, these 2 are designed to be foundational. They material they cover are almost identical. I am pursuing the CIW ladder so it was beneficial to me to use the inet+ for the Foundations exam. I chose the inet+ over the Foundations because I could not find training materials for the Foundations, but I could for the inet+. That is less of an issue at this time. There is an exam cram bood out for Foundations as well as a "Dummies" book. There is also some other materials for Foundations set to come out this year sometime.
