Net+ or I-Net+, that is the question

| Don't know if I should post this here or not, but I am having a problem. I cannot decide whether to go for the Net+ first or the I-Net+. I have been reading the post here and on the Net+ forum and it seems that maybe the Net+ is easier. Or am I missing something?
Either way, I won't be ready for either before CompTIA raises its' prices again. Up to $199.00 US after the first of Feb.! Where will it end? Before long you will have to take out a loan to get one cert!
But I have rambled too long. Any help with this quandry would be appreciated.

| Depends on what you want the most, I-Net is more about the Internet and Net+ is more about basic networking. | |

| Okay, that is what I am asking. Which one would be better to get first? Would it be better to get the Net+ and then later get the I-Net, or the other way around?
The A+ I just got today will help on my resume, but I really want to beef it up more. So which of these has more beef??

| Net+ is more popular, but as to beefing it up your going to need more than MCP,A+,Server+ etc. Go get an MCSE or CCNP.
I cant answer the question about which one is easier cause I dont know waht you enjoy and what you already know.

| if you want to know about logical order, it would be network+ then i-net+ .. the i-net+ includes basic networking all of which is covered in net+, and then adds more "internet-centric" topics, like web/ftp/irc/email .. very simplistic web design concepts, some copyright stuff .. but which one you should take first i dont know .. but that seems to be the logical order .. good luck ..

| I found the Network+ test quite a bit more difficult then the i-Net+ exam. The i-Net* exam was probrobly the easiest test I have taken. As for which one to take first, I would suggest the Network+ test. It is alot more recognized then the i-Net+ test, not to mention it would place you 3/4 of the way to a MCSA if you ever decide you want to go the watered down Microsoft route. | |

| jbiv,
Are you in Greeneville, SC or Greeneville, TN?

| Go for Net+ first because it will cover a lot of the ground you need for the i-Net+, which is a good follow-up test. I did them in this sequence. Also, if you are looking for prep-tests, you could try Exam Drill, with both tests bundled quite cheap. Go to www.alphaexams.com and check out the demo. (I used these for the exams and they were excellent.) | |

| Thanks for all the feedback. I thought about this last night, and compared both exams. I think I would have to agree, Net+ is probably the way to go first, then I-Net+. And maybe I will check into the MCSA thing too. And thanks to prometric for the exam prep tips.
