| Well, I took the i-Net+ exam yesterday(Sunday) and I passed with a score of 91 and one question really bothered me seeing the answer was so damn vague, it wanted to know what the initials X.Y.Z. means and well the question did not even give any content to ask if it was related to Web-Security or Web-Page coding!! This is a real strong HINT if you have taken the MS-FrontPage 98 and/or the Microsoft Internet Information Server you would know either answer for X.Y.Z. and so I guessed the more popular usage, not sure if I was correct or not.
What bothers me about CompTIA exams is the fact that the questions can be so poorly worded that maybe they should have an English Professor grade them on their clarity, grammar and such. Why is it I can read a text book and take their questions and either I know the answer or at least know what they want, but not always on the exams? Yeah, I have taken numerous Microsoft, Novell and CompTIA exams and it is SAD to see these type of exams. Even in college I remember having to ask a Professor exactly what he is was wanting on a test question and I told him how the answer could be two different choices and why and he at least acknowledged my first or second choice and then he advised the class so it was fair to the other students.
I left a comment to the CompTIA folks and I bet they won't answer my question/comment about my #8 exam question and I surely explained that I knew the answer for both scenarios. I hope CompTIA does a much better job on their next release that is now in "BETA Testing"!
Well, I just need to FAX my score and pay my dues to get the CIW-Associate certification after passing the i-Net+ exam too! Oh, I guess I should update my profile with the NEW certs.
Thanks to you'll for the heads up and not sure which exam is next?

| Yea, I really want to know what the X.Y.Z. in the test was too... what where some of the possible answers? | |
| Sh0tgun 2002-01-16, 9:10 pm |
| I'm pretty sure it was CSS.
I can guess since I haven't tested and am not bound by an agreement
|
| I got the X.Y.Z question when I took it too. Im pretty sure that the X.Y.Z answer they wanted was the one related to web development since I got the same question and only missed two questions and they were in i-Net Basics and Clients.
The thing that bugged me the most about the test was that they even wasted their time (and mine) asking about acronyms like X.Y.Z.. I have never known a time when actually knowing what X.Y.Z or W.X.Y.Z really mattered.
Congratulations on your pass.

| Well I guess I will be the first to say, "Congratulations on your pass!!"
As for the comment about why somebody would even ask what "PCMCIA" or "X.Y.Z" is stupid and is either a "give-me" question or the reverse. I am sure I got it correct, but just did not like the question without even putting it in context. Kind of like was that "Sale, Sail, or Sell" and I guess CompTIA wasn't listening seeing they never addressed my comments at the end of the exam!
Not to upset the folks at Intel, but seeing they are now out of the certification business from what I can tell. "PCMCIA" means to me:
People
Cannot
Memorize
Computer's
Idiotic
Acronyms
But at least we know how to install the things in a Laptop Computer no matter who's name is on the cover!
Just joking, otherwise, I would have to get out my dictionary and check my spelling and that is why Intel calls them PC-Cards now!! (LOL)

| I also took the test last week. The question was extremely vague practically worded like, What is CSS? , The choices were:
A. blah
B. commercial secured server * incorrect because its really commercially secured server Sybex I-net study guide pge. 135 Sybex 2000.
C. something
D. cascading style sheets<------ This was the choice I picked.
Anyone that has any really specific questions I can probably help you out, I start studying for CNA on monday however.
e-mail me.

| If I'm not mistaken ... for this exam's objectives, CSS can only stand for Cascading Styles Sheets because this is more directly related to the internet (more widely used too?) than Commercial Secured Server. |
