The DOM is an interface that allows programs to dynamically update web site content and style. It is especially useful if you need to access data from some relations that are stored on a large computer in a database. You can submit an HTML form and the items are parsed by the script and passed to an sql query which gets you the data you need and formats it in a way that the document requires.
