| This is a tricky one.
You design a web site and notice the pages are taking an unusually long time to download on a 56Kbps modem. You realize that the site is graphics intensive and that this might be an issue. What steps can you take to make the page and graphics download quicker? SELECT (2)
A) Reduce the size of the picture.
B) Replace a very large graphic with a few smaller ones.
C) Convert all your .JPG files to .GIF files to make them smaller.
D) Reduce the number of colors in the images
Please explain the correct answer. Thanks again. | |

| I would choose A and B. If you chose C or D, you may run into probs, as if the image is a photograph, the GIF format may not be acceptable. Likewiese reducing the colours in a photograph would cause you to lose some information. By replacing several large images with thumbnails that are linked to their larger counterparts, you will save a lot of bandwidth. | |

| u save bandwith and thats very important!for this reason i go with answers a and b as well. | |

| hi..
the question is a bit tricky, between choosing A&B or A&C
A) Reduce the size of the picture.
is definitely the answer. remember: keyword is 56kbps modem!!
B) Replace a very large graphic with a few smaller ones. --> by cutting a large graphic into a few smaller graphics, u definitely save lots of bandwidth (remember when you cut a graphic into pieces?) if you chose C, converting Jpeg to GIF MAy result in a not-small file size and as Randy mentioned, converting to GIF will most likely reduce the quality of image considerably.
hence, no doubt, the answer is A & B.
goodluck on the test..
hope that helps a bit |
