Hello all

Just come accross this questionin a practise exam.

How many seconds will it take to download a 1000 byte file using a 56 k modem?

A 1

B 8

C 1.25

D 12.15

It has the answer as 1.25 can someone explain the formula. Ive checked back to study guide but Ive got a block Im affraid.

1000 Byte file is 8000 bits. Modem speed is measured in bits, well kilobits. So if you have 56Kb modem that is 56kilobits/sec. Make the unit consistent (bits or Kb)and divide. 8000 bits / 5600 bits/sec = 1.43 seconds
