| Hey there everybody,
am sitting the exam tomorrow, and have got a couple of sneaky ?qn's that can't seem to find any info on......
1. what is the standard internet bandwidth technology used on the backbone? eg T1, T3, DSL etc
2. what are the current encryption standards outside the States for exporting etc, and will the exam ask about current, or old laws i.e when was exam last updated?
3. can anyone tell me anything about standard DPI's for graphics? have seen a couple of qn's on this but can't find anything in my guides.
Cheers

| Check out this site to see a visual map of part of MCI's Internet Backbone, http://www.vbns.net/netmaps/logical.html
The answer would have to be OC-3 or higher? Lookup T-, E-, DS-, and OC- speeds and their uses.
DSL is for home users and small businesses. T-1 (1.544Mbps) is for businesses with 50+ users or more. T-3 (45Mbps) is for corporations and Internet Service Providers. These are to slow now for the backbone.
The Backbone is OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 & OC-96! OC-3 is 155.52Mbps thru OC-48 2.488Gbps & is used by the Tier-1 & 2 Metro Area Exchanges (MAE) that is a specific type of Network Access Point (NAP) where the ISPs connect to the backbone.
Exporting is usually restricted to 40-bit encryption outside the USA. DES is 56-bit & Triple DES 128-bit or high encryption and is restricted to most countries by the Federal Trade Commission &/or State Department -- I forgot which. Also, many countries do not like their people to have encryption that their government cannot break easily, etc.. Damn, China stole our airplane and who knows what on board! We want our Navy Sailors back, now!!! Remember encrypted text is called "CipherText" vs "ClearText".
I doubt this question will show up because you have DES, Thriple-DES; RC2, RC4 & RC5; Advanced Encryption Standards (AES): RC6, MARS, Rijndael, Serpent & Twofish are all finalsts for this AES Standard, etc..
Be more specific on your graphics question. | |

| I think 600 and 1200 are standard DPI's for printer's but double check this. | |

| reading the books i found that the speed used in Internet Backbone is ATM. |
