| Ah, I would think choice A (8 bit graphics). My reasoning is less bits, faster processing speed. If the question asked wich is the most popular, I would choose B (24 bit graphics). Anyone else agree? | |
|
| I'll second that. Less bits=less color depth=faster processing speed. The question seems irrelevent to web design. Size of the graphic would have much more bearing on the download speed than the color depth of the graphic.
8 bit color would get you into the "web safe" colors though.
Probably look like dookie on the screen, but I'd go with 8 bits.

| jaywang: I know examnotes says 24bit but another resource says 8-bit. Which is why I asked the question in the first place. Can anyone say for sure what the answer is? I am taking the test on Monday and really need to know. Thanks.

| How would 24 bit be faster than 8 bit? I see it on the cram sheet, but I don't see how that would work.

| The question asks what is the fastest mode for displaying WEB graphics NOT what is the fastest video mode. If that were the question the answer would be 8bit, however because the majority of graphics found in web pages are jpegs and because jpegs have a color depth of 24bits, the answer to the question as posed is 24bits. | |
|
| InWin, I will write the exam next Monday at 8:30 Sydney time.
Good luck to both of us. | |
|
| jaywang: Thanks.
I am also taking the i-Net+ exam on Monday.
Let me know how it goes with you.
So, can anyone confirm the correct answer?

|
| So why would 24-bit mode display graphics faster than 8-bit mode? Just because 8-bit mode couldn't display the correct color depth wouldn't mean that it would do it more slowly.
At this point, I think we're disagreeing over a poorly worded question.

| purple hayes: This question isn't really poorly worded.
We just have to remember they are specifically asking the fastest for "web graphics" only.
This question is more than likely to be on the test.
I really hope someone can give us a straight answer.

| The answer is definately 64bit mode and the braindumps are wrong! Try reading Tom's Hardware review for the Technical answer why or think of it like this...
If you are playing a game like doom do you want to use an ISA or PCI video card, why? 8bit vs 32/64bits. They are talking about how much data the processor on the video card can handle at once. Single lane road vs multi-lane highway, etc..
Troy Tech question # 75 clearly states the answer as 64 bit, not mentioned in Transcenders or I forgot if it did.
And 128 bits is faster than 64, etc..

| Doug_Black: As much as I would really like to know the right answer the question never appeared on my exam so I guess it's not as important as it was. Thanks for the responses though.

| I had this question on my exam yesterday morning so just to let you guys know some of the tests have it on there. I am not sure if I got it right or not but I chose 24 bit based on most of what I read and studied. |
