| You have users connection via RAS, what should you use to prevent unauthorized access?
I saw enable callback on some place, somebody
know what is enable callback???
(protect a network like a firewall??)
My exam is tomorrow.

| I believe,
Callback is an option that an administrator can put on the user that he/she can only call into the RAS/NETWORK from a set phone number (usually his/hers home). The callback is the phone number.
Hope this helps and I'm sure somebody with a little more experience can explain it better if you need it. | |

| In NT RAS, there are 3 levels of callback:
1. No Callback: the user dials into the network, and that connection remains active.
2. Callback to user defined number: The user calls into the network, is prompted to give the phone number they want to be called back at, and the server disconnects them, then calls them back at that number.
3. Callback to a pre-determined number: The user calls in, authenticates, then the server disconnects them and calls them back at a number that is static.
The third option is the most secure, as the person who steals your laptop, for example, will probably not try to dial into your corporate network from yout kitchen 
The second is great if you have a bunch of sales people who go from convention to convention. You cannot preset the phone number to call them back at. It will change ever night!
As for the first, it is a normal RAS connection.
Please note also that you have to grant the user the right to call in in the first place -- in user manager for domains -- and that if you are using multilink to dial in, you will be called back to only one phone number as only one phone number can be given for the callback options 2 and 3 -- except if you are using ISDN where both channels have the same phone number.

| I came here to post this same question! I have seen the answer be firewall. For RAS I would say it would be callback, unless the answer reads Enable callback. In which case it wouldn't be the most secure because it is not a forced callback (Freak's answer #2 & 3). I don't know but I am having the same problem with this answer.
The other question I have seen a questionable answer for is:

To play streaming video you can use Realplayer or
Windows Media player but for the exam I think the
answer will be Realplayer. | |
