| I have seen this question on every brain dump out there, and keep getting two different answers. I figured you guys would know the correct choice.
What is the least secure?
Internet, Intranet, Extranet, or VPN
My two cents (whatever that is worth) tells me that it is the Internet because of its accessibility, but I have seen some posts that state that the answer is Extranet because of the ease of getting in. Please give me confidence in my original answer.

| I would say internet because an internet is not even designed to keep people out -- quite the opposite! Extranet I think may be a common error -- they are much more secure than internets because they are designed only to conduct business and to keep those who are not supposed to have access out. Since security isn't as much of an issue with open information as you would have on an internet, but it is an issue -- a big issue -- on extranets, this may be where the confusion is creeping in. But an internet is the least secure. An extranet will use the Internet and this makes it a possible way for crackers to get into a private network, but I don't think this changes the relative degrees of security. | |
