Has anyone been to Brainbench.com? It has great practice tests but no specific I-NET+ test.

Which one would you take?

There is the Internet IK and E-Commerce tests - they come closer than most.

Thanks Randy, I bombed on a Networks related test (60%) even though I got 100% on the N+.

Then I got an 82% on their Win 95 administrator test.

I am always looking for different questions especially when I feel like I am not actually getting a good score but rather recognizing the question.

Go to www.mcsefreak.com/brainbench.htm to see what tests I took from their site. I like it a lot. It is sometimes harder and more in depth than the Cert exams, but it makes you think... I am a big fan of theirs.

I took, and passed, the Brainbench Internet Concepts and the HTML 4.0 exams on the first try, but found them much more difficult than the i-Net+ exam. However, the content of the two exams is like an advanced version of what you will find on the i-Net+ exams.

Good Luck

Like Freak says, the brainbench tests are harder than the cert exams, the really good thing about them is that EACH question is timed. So it makes for good practise to get questions answered quickly and correctly. I've passed about 22 of the brainbench tests and found all of them made me think, not one was as easy as my A+ exmas were. Yes, good exercise for the brain

A couple of other sites are http://skilldrill.brainbuzz.com/
or http://www.ecertifications.com
personally I like the skildrill better since you they mail you a cert if you score 3.5 or better. ecertification gives you a cert but it is in PDF file format, so that you can print it yourself.

Also, 3Com has a program of their own that you can do online, courses and tests. Best part of it is - no fees -. for info go you can visit http://www.onlinetraining.3com.com/...n.dll/program?1

Anyone else found other similar sites?

Branbench will soon be charging for the paper cert as well as the exam, as copied from http://www.brainbench.com/xml/bb/common/certcharge.xml

Certifications Not Free Much Longer

Earn those FREE Brainbench Certifications today, as they will not be free for much longer! On January 19, 2001, we will begin charging for the Brainbench paper certificates that you receive once you pass a certification test. The cost will be $8, which will include the cost of the certificate itself, as well as shipping and handling.

Receiving a Brainbench certificate is an excellent way to display your accomplishments to those around you. Please note that you are not obligated to purchase a paper certificate when we begin charging for them and this will not affect your certification status online. After you pass a Brainbench certification test, you will achieve your certification status with us, which will be noted in your transcript.

Stay tuned for more information about this change shortly. The actual Brainbench Certification tests will remain free for now, but we will begin charging for some of the tests on March 1, 2001. More to come on this in forthcoming months.

I'd be very suprised if people wanted to shell out $8 for a piece of paper that is not recognized anywhere! It is fun to take some of their tests, but you can hardly put that on your resume
What do you guys think?

I was thinking the same thing. I like Brianbench and I will do more of their exams but the paper copy is superfluous. Who would bring the actual paper certificate to an interview or hang up a diploma from a web site?

The Comptia certificates aren't too decorative either. Pretty cheap looking with that perforated edge.

I don't think too many people will pay for the cert. In fact there is no need for the paper cert when you can link to your transcript. And when Brainbench starts to charge for the tests on March 1/2001, I wonder how many people will keep doing them.

If they were more recognized and properly accredited then I could see some value in paying for the tests and possibly even the cert. But as it is, they are not known very wwell.

Like Freak says, the Brainbench tests are fun to do. They can also show you any possible weakness you might have in a given subject. But that is about all they are good for at this point in time.

I don't think that this will last too long when they discover that noone is willing to pay the cash for an unrecognised cert. I go there mainly for practice and I think most others do as well.
