| Hi Bryan,
I will take a stab at your questions. Here goes.
9. How many possible safe colors are there for viewing with a browser?
a. 8
b. 256
c. 256,000
d. 64,000
The answer is (B), 256. The key to this question is the word "safe." To be safe and insure that all browsers out there can render the site the way it was intended, use 256 max colors.
16. What command do you use to start an FTP session?
a. login
b. connect
c. action
d. start
The THINK answer is (D) Start. I hope someone outthere will confirm or deny this.
43. Which is the least secure
a. Extranet
b. Intranet
c. Internet
d. VPN
- I say this one is C but alot of people say B?
The answer is (C), Internet. Yep, there has been some debate about this here on the forum.
I had this question on my test, I will try to remember what it stated.
You are doing a search on England, and every result has England USA in it. What do you type to get rid of the USA.
a. England -USA
b. England - USA
c. England minus USA
d. ?
You would use (A) to remove USA from any of the results in this case.
Hope this has been some help.

| Goto a command prompt and type ftp
then ?
here's what you get:
Commands may be abbreviated. Commands are:
! delete literal prompt send
? debug ls put status
append dir mdelete pwd trace
ascii disconnect mdir quit type
bell get mget quote user
binary glob mkdir recv verbose
bye hash mls remotehelp
cd help mput rename
close lcd open rmdir
The only command of the four listed is open, that is the correct answer.

| I should have said open is NOT listed, but that is the correct answer. All four listed are not valid ftp commands. Try it for yourself. | |
|
| Hi here is some of the answers to your questions.
16. The command OPEN should be present because it connects you with the remote
system.
43. Internet is the right answer, because it dont invoke any ACL, the others mostly also use VPN in some form. | |
|
| Of the choices that you have listed for the FTP question, the only one that can be used to start an FTP session is start, to try this open a command prompt and type "start ftp", this will start an FTP session.

| Actually the number of browser safe colors is really 216. To be sure all colors in a graphic can be seen on all browsers and platforms, a good image editor should have a browser safe palette consisting of the 216 colors.

| Seems like Adam is right... I distinctly remember seeing 216.... Which is also the number of colors that .gif's support... | |
|
| I hope to not sound redundant, but the 216 color palette is considered the 'browser-safe' palette. The reason is simply due to averages. Up until recently, most systems that you bought came set to display 256 colors, and many users wouldn't bother to change that setting. The interesting thing is that only 216 of those 256 colors were direct matches between the PC and Mac. 40 were specific to one platform or the other. So, if you want to target those with lower color resolution, you use 216, not 256, colors. Most image software has a palette in place for this.
Note that this is becoming less of an issue. Over the past two years, more and more PCs have come set to high-color (65,000 colors). And, from what I understand, Macs have been shipping with a greater color depth for even longer. Personally, I think developing in 216 colors is way too restrictive, and eliminates such useful features as photography and gradients.
