Question For RickF?
|
|
|
| RickF,
What materials did you use to pass this i-net+ test? Did you have questions from Phantom's practice test because I had none. I have seen you replys to a lot of questions on here, so what ever you used to learn this worked. Like I said I just finished my MCSE and took IIS for my last test. So I thought the internet stuff I learned for that test would have at least some carry over and I was wrong about that. I could use some pointers because I don't want to fail this test again and waste another $ 180 bucks, that hurts!! Thanks. | |

| Hi Bryan,
I used a bunch of different material to prepare for the i-Net+ test. Since I am a dummie when it comes to all of this, I used the i-Net+ for Dummies book. It's pretty easy to read, but doesn't really hit many of the subjects as deeply as you need. I also used Sam's Teach Yourself Networking, the ExamCram book, Augies flash cards (found elsewhere onthis forum), a bunch on on-line tests, and also brain dumps. On the brain dumps, though, I researched almost all of the questions and answers (since many of them are wrong) and I wanted to know the why and wherefore, not just memorize the answers.
Lastly, I went through the free, instructor led on-line course at www.leapit.com which was a big help. They don't have a i-Net+ course per se, but the Network+ course went into the detail that I was looking for.
I found the real problem with the test was not so much the material, but the way the questions and answers were worded. CompTIA likes to play with your mind in the test facility. My advice is to read the questions and answers very carefully. It helps if you have some grasp of the material too :-)
I will take the Network+ exam in a little less than 3 weeks, then onto A+. Then, hopefully, a real job out there in the IT world! I am alco considering taking the CCNA, but that is down the road a bit.
Good luck out there in cert land and don't hesitate to ask if there is anything I can do.
