Author Cookie question again.

OK, here is what I read on the Flashcards that was so kindly available about cookies (Is there anyone who agrees with this?): "Cookies collect data about a specific user and deliver it to the originating server. The server can interact with this data and provide a customized experience for the user. COOKIES ARE TEXT FILES AND HAVE NO EXECUTABLE ABILITIES AND ARE OFTEN ENCRYPTED." Blah blah blah.

Is there anyone who agrees that cookies are encrypted? If not, why?

Thanks.
