"Test Yourself" Practice Exams
|
|
|
| Has anybody out there had any experiences (good or bad) with the Syngress/Osborne "Test Yourself" practice exams book for i-Net+?
I saw a copy in our local technical book store and was wondering if anyone out there had used it. I will write the test on Wednesday and every little bit of extra knowledge will help.
Thanks for your input.

| RickF...
I passed the exam last week (86%)using David Groth i-Net study guide (Sybex). I must say the book is very concise in preparing me to take the exam. The review questions are somewhat similar to the real exam.
However, the last 2 or 3 chapters seem to be written in a rush!
I've heard some comments about the Osborne book - there are not positive comments.
NOTE: if you are an experieced Internet user, you should pass the exam. know your materials, and you'll be FINE!
hope that helps.

| Thanks, Weblord, for your input.
I went back and got a copy of the book this evening and took a better look at it. Unless I can find a compelling reason to keep it, I think it will get returned Monday morning.
So far I have used "i-Net+ For Dummies" and a couple of Networking texts, plus all of the practice exams, brain dumps and one-on-one help I could find, and I think I am ready. We will know this coming Wednesday at about 3:30pm!
Again, thanks for your input.

| RickF,
I bought the Syngress/Osbourne book (I wish I bought the Sybex book!) If the exam is anything like Augie's flash cards and Exam Slam (which I think it is), this book is not the one to go with.
Stick with info on this site and maybe the Sybex book.

PS. I'm not real happy with the Test Yourself questions in this book. A lot of them don't seem relevant and are very hard...shatters your confidence. I'll let you know more after I write the test this week! | |

| eet77,
Thanks for your input. I agree with your comments on the Test Yourself book, and in fact I just got back from the bookstore. I returned the Test Yourself and got something I can use for the next step, which is Network+.
I did find that many of the scenario type questions were more difficult that they needed to be, but I suppose that is designed to make you think.
I have learned a lot from Augies flash cards and the dumps and on-line tests. We shall see how much I retained this coming Wednesday at 2:45 pm!
Good luck on your test.

| Stay away from the "Test Yourself" book. It is crap.
You will do better by reading the dumps from this site and cheking the answers for yourself. There are some errors to answers on some dumps, but they're still better than the books that are available.

| I agree. I took the book back and picked up one that I can use for the Network+.
Using the couple of decent books I do have that covers i-Net+ stuff, plus the dumps and some other help, I passed the exam today with an 84.
