Author Flash Cards available

2000-06-27, 5:33 am

Somewhere along the line I got hooked on flashcards. Pretty bummed out when I discovered there weren't any available yet for the i-Net+. As a means for prepping I've created my own set from all the questions/answers I can find relating to the i-Net+ exam. When I'm done, I'll have around 250 cards. If anyone is interested, post a reply or drop an email and I'll send you a copy. Here are the details:

The flashcards are being created via Word in a table format. There are 4 flashcards/page which means there are 8 cells (4 cells for the questions and 4 cells for the corresponding answers). You print out a page, cut along the thin line borders, and fold along the thick line borders. I'll leave the cutting up do you. Just remember not to run with sharp objects

All questions (multiple choice format) come from verified sources. This means that along with the answer, the explanation is also given. You will not find a question that leaves you hanging.

I have not knowingly included any from the ExamSlam, or from the practice exam that ExamNotes offers. However, I'm positive that many will look familiar since the questions focus specifically on the test objectives and may have come from other dumps.

I hope to be finished with the cards by Wednesday night (6/28). If I get them done earlier I'll post a message.

Once again, the flashcards are primarily for my own benefit. It's unbelievable how much I've learned just preparing the cards. I'm getting ready for a 2-week roadtrip with my wife and no computer. Figure this will be a good way to chew up the miles while I drive (she's quizzing me). Besides, a lot of you have really helped me out with your own postings so this is the best way I can think of to return the gesture of goodwill.

Happy trails.

Augie

I love flashcards too -- the are absolutely the best way for me to learn definitions and straight facts. Hopefully, I'll be i-Net+ certified before you get down with your cards, but I'd still love to have a set to help me keep refreshed. My biggest challenge in preparing for this test was really LEARNING the info as opposed to memorizing the answers on practice tests and dumps.

Thanks for your generosity. If your roadtrip is for pleasure, hope you have a great time!

I would love to get a set of your flash cards for my personal use. I am also trying to start up a free job retraining center through my church where I help people looking to switch careers get A+, N+, I+ certified. Could I also get permission to use you cards for that?

Whew. Just finished the first batch of flashcards (need to call my health insurance company to see if they cover carpal tunnel syndrome). I'm now typing this message with my nose.

Ended up with around 235 cards that covers 61 pages in Microsoft Word. Many of the questions mirror those already from the dump but also include explanations for the answers.

Will start sending these out to the dozen or so of you who have requested them via email.

I won't sit for the exam for another 3 weeks. If possible, drop a response to let me know how the cards work out for you if you take the exam before me. Based on the sources for the questions on the cards, I'm confident they'll come in handy.

Cheers,

Augie

Hey Augie!
GREAT JOB!! The flash cards are fantastic. You have truly done a great job. They will come in very handy as I prepare for the test in 10 days.
Thanks for taking the time to do such a big project, and for sharing it with all of us. Now the fun part of cutting them apart begins.

Nice to hear the cards are serving a worthy cause and that the 12 hours of becoming intimate with MS Word helped the greater good (besides, you can always use them as beer coasters if you know the answer)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just got caught up sending out the cards to everyone (well, 22 of you) who contacted me. If you still don't have the cards and requested them, drop me another email and I'll resend.

Happy cramming. Be careful with those paper cuts.

Hey All,

Once again, glad to see the flashcards are helping out. However, instead of bogging down the bulletin board with requests, just drop me an email instead (no need to waste real estate with something that doesn’t directly benefit everyone here). Please feel free to comment on the cards though.

By the way, I just finished sending out the cards to everyone that has contacted me today. If you didn't receive them, drop me a line.

Cheers,

Augie

For some warped reason, some of you may have received only half the flashcards. In other words, only half of each page was filled with flashcards while the other half was blank.

Dunno why this happened...maybe something got screwed up in the zip wrapping.

Anyway, if this happened to you, drop me an email and I'll resend. Bad news is that I'm out of town at a buddy's house for the next few days (Diablo II...a very extreme PC game was released today and I made a pact 3 years ago that I'd be available to play it when it came out). You'll have to wait a couple days (Saturday at the latest) for me to get home to re-send the full version of the flashcards. Sorry, but that's the best I can do.

Good luck all

Augie

I may have figured out the source of the problem with only half of the flashcards being received by some of you. Right now it's only a theory (and a warped theory at that) but it's the best I can do so far.

I created the cards using Microsoft Word 2000. When I sent them to a buddy who uses Word 97, only half the cards showed up. Another fried who has Word 2000 received them intact. Same goes for me when I email a copy back to my inbox. Weird.

Bad news is that I don't know how this can be fixed. Perhaps I'll try resending them without the zip file and see what happens.

The other thing is that as of Sun July 2nd, I'll be on a 2 week trip...without a computer. This means that I won't be able to email the cards out during this time. It is possible that someone may offer to post them at a URL for downloading, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Worse case scenario is that you'll have to wait a couple of weeks.

That's it. Happy cramming
