| 24. A user with a 128Kbps ISDN modem will take about how many seconds to download a 100K
file?
A. 30
B. 3
C. 15
D. 8
(I could never get this one.)
----------------------------------------
Ok here we go >>> you have a file that is 100k
you have a 128 kb/s ISDN.
instead of 8 bit for a byte we will use 10 bits as mid rate to allow for delays.
So 100KB x 10 = 1000 kb
1000 kb / 128 kb/s = 7.8 s or 8 s
NEXT
you have a 56kbs line and a 1K file
instead of 1024 we will use 1K
So 1000 x 10 = 10kb
10kb / 56kb/s = 1/6 s or .2 s
ok! OK!!

| Corrections:
31) Almost 100% sure it's not a bridge. First of all bridge is not considered internetworking device. Second only translating bridge can connect disimilar topologies. I think the answer they looking for is Gateway. Could also be Router. This is the type of question that should ask choose 2. Then the answer would be Gateway and Router. If you know about CISCO routers, you know that it can connect token ring on one side and some WAN link on the other side.
46) Should be B. T3 is 44.5 Mbps, so 45 is close enough.
47) Should be ATM
49) should be T1. How do you expect an ISP have a 56K connection and server 100 clients? A T1 line would be required as it can provide 1.5 Mbps
Not sure that 83 and 84 are correct. Can someone explain, prefferably with references.
110. Should not it be L2TP
141. Not sure. Can someone explain why it's not D?

These 2 questions, 83 and 84, I believe were from Emmett Dulaney's Chapter 14.
83. A webmaster from one site "borrows" content from another site and places it on his own. The content was protected by copyright and the Webmaster did not obtain permission to use it. Under what circumstance can the Webmaster do so without legal ramifications?
A. He did not know that the material was protected
B. He post a notice that the material is borrowed
C. He is sampling
D. He is doing a parody<
Emmett, who also wrote the Cramsession notes, writes that in choosing the answer, "Parody is one possible "fair use" right under which the material can be borrowed without permission."
84.Which is not eligible for copyright protection?
A. A dissertion on why taxes are unjust
B. An ingredient list<
C. A classified ad
D. An employment application
Emmett writes in this chapter,"Certain kind of written words cannot be copyrighted. These include:
Names...
Unembellished facts and numbers, such as Pi...
...
Ingredient lists..."

141. Go to Bobcat's piece, 05-18 on this forum, where he answered Lakrits question.
He picked Virtual shopping cart, "Typically, a shopping cart is the interface between a company's website and its deeper infrastructure, allowing customers to select merchandise; review what they have selected; make necessary modifications or addition; and purchase the merchandise..."

Thought these will help.

| Stan, it could be a translating bridge, as far as my i-Net+ and Network+ books defines translating bridges(wavetechnology). What do you say?
Somebody answered the shopping cart versus credit card authentication one, but I'm still not sure. Both answeres seem to be correct? Can somebody help with a final verdict?
There are some other funny questions: How many years does a copyright offer protection for an invention. The answer said 0 but I thought its either 95 or life of inventor + 70?
Explain 75 please? Not one seems to be correct?
Explain 32 please. Client IP address is just as important as a modem, isn't it? What do you experts say?
Cheers

The question about why the copyright does not protect and invention.Hmmm....it's because an invention is protected by a patent not a copyright.
About the the modem question. the correct answer would be that you need ppp installed and configured but that is not one of the chooses but if you do not have a modem installed and configured for the internet, you are going to have a hard time connecting.
From what I've been able to detuct from the research and the answers I've gotten back from individuals who have take the exam, it's credit card authorization.
The translating bridge is farely new technology. And that is not one of the chooses. You may be reading in to the question.Look up the definition of what a gateway is and what it is capable of.
Hope this helps and good luck on the exam.

| Answer to 80 is life +50 years (sounds like 50 years to life)
I correct myself.
I first read about life plus 50 years on Cramsession for i-net+
Since I noticed some other mistakes on Cramsession I decided to investigate this one. I found a US copyrights office site (The link to it is on this site under the i-net+ linke)
http://www.loc.gov/copyright/circs/circ1.html#hlc
It states that the time limit is life plus 70 years. It does not mention 50 years anywhere.

| Just a quick thanks to Sci-fi & Phantom. I passed I-Net+ with 81% and I couldn't have done it without their dumps/test Qs. If you are sitting the CIW class and then taking the I-Net+ exam these are perfect. The CIW foundations class does not mimic the exam, so this information was totally invaluable.
Thanks again. Axx |
