I am a bit confused

| Some people say that it's better to take the Network+ before taking the i-Net+, does this mean that the chances to pass the i-Ne+ without passing the Network+ first are quite low?? or it really doesn't matter and you can take one without the other and pass with flying colors??? I am a bit concerned because I don't have the N+ certification, so could it be a big disadvantage that could make me fail?
Can anybody give me his/her opinion.

| In my experience, and it seems for many others who have posted on this site, Net+ is the easier of the two exams. By taking either test first you'll get exposed to a lot of the same material that is on the other exam, but I found the questions on Net+ to be more "elementary", or basic, than on i-Net+. If you've already got a strong networking background, or taken an exam like Microsoft's Networking Essentials, with minimal study you can have Net+ out of the way anyway. With some diligent study though, you could pass either exam, but if you take one, study a little more and get the second cert. as well while the info is fresh in your mind. | |

| Well, personally (and I may be the only one here who think this), I thought the i-Net+ was much easier than the Network+, but then again, I had already got my Network+ certification before writing the i-Net+. On my test, about one quarter of the questions that were on my Network+ were repeated on my Network+, and since the material was fresh in my mind, that made it all the easier. Also, I am quite exeperienced with using the Internet, have designed my own page, and so on, and although certainly no "expert", this may have helped me a lot. So my advice is to take the Netrwork+ first, then soon after take the i-Net+, and you will probably do better. Good luck!

| It probably depends on your own experience in the field. If you have a good amount of experience with internet technologies in some of the topics this exam covers, you would probably do fine.
I'm not Network+ certified but I do know the material for it fairly well. Plus I have lots of internet experience in web design, security, setting up a domain and different types of servers (web, mail, dns, etc). When I finally actually get around to taking the exam, I think I'll probably do fine on it.
If you're not sure, you might want to try some more practice tests from different sources. If you're still not sure, try out the Network+ exam.

| Thank you all for your valuable comments. I'll take a look on Network+ material and I am don't feel quite confident to take the I-Net+ I will prepare myself for Network +.
Really appreciate your suggestions this Forum is great. It is fantastic to be able to communicate with very experienced people.

| Experienced??? Hahaha. I'm experienced in taking tests! Actually, I am a COBOL (retch!!!) programmer trying to break into networking. But I would definitely go with the Network+ first. It also has the advantage of being more focused, whereas the i-Net+ is much broader. | |

| Oh please, people in this listgroup are so useless, I had written so many posts with nobody responding. When I write in the Network+ newsgroup, people are so nice and they actually write back and try to help - even authors like Mike Meyers write to me. You people dont help at all - but it doesnt matter to me because I just come here to read the braindumps so I get free braindumps! It dont matter to me | |

Now that's not very nice to say.  To say that we're all useless isn't fair. Just about everyone who posts here helps out the others who are confused or unsure about some questions. 83 posts and some odd responses can't mean we don't help.

| I agree with Adam...this forum is top-notch. SN102, you had 2 main postings, both were about which books to buy for prepping for the exam. Just because someone doesn't reply to one of the postings doesn't mean you're being ignored. There are numerous replies in here about which books/resources have worked for others and which haven't. It's also a difficult topic because it's very subjective and differs based on each person's prior experience/training.
Time to hop off my soapbox. Apologies in advance for wasting forum space on a reply that doesn't contribute direct content on passing the i-Net+, but I thought this needed to be said. There's a lot of people in here who are helping others for the sole purpose of helping others. Just not right to dump on them (pardon that ugly pun)  |
