Why are you taking it?
|
|
|
| I'm just curious as to why everyone here is going for the I-Net+ certification. I mean, what is your reason? New to the field? Want to get your foot in the door? Boning up for more advanced certs? Just for the heck of it?
As for me, I'm doing it to really get my foot in the door and to get some recognition that I do know what I'm doing. Right now I'm hardware support for a 2000+ user environment but I'm also responsible for our team's intranet site. So I'm in the pursuit of knowledge and finding a web job.
So what about you guys?

| I am a senior consultant and I have been contracting for a long time. I am very happy of what I have achieved so far but I am always looking around and try to get a grip of as much new technologies as I can. I thought that i-Net+ was a good way to approach a world that I just knew from conferences and magazines. And to be honest with you I like the challenge of the exams and I like to go for the top score as well. That's basically it. If you want to know if I have achieved these results, well, no. The exam and by reflection the books preparing you for it, are both dealing with the subject in a light way. There is much more that should be known and explored. Much more to be included and some topics should have been treated with more 'respect' if you like. And by the way I did not score a 1000. Even though was a good thrill and gave me a decent background. Thank you for the intriguing question. God bless you all. | |

| Adam, If it comes to certification I think we are all adicts. Comptia wants to introduce the Server+ exam and I think we all will meet there soon. I want to write my Inet+ Monday 22nd. I want to do it:
1. Level 1 CIW
2. Base for internet knowledge
3. Recognition
4. Hopefully an increase in the next 3 months
5. Addiction
6. Makes life interesting
By the way can somebody help me with a coupon. for the 25% discount. Our local Sylvan Prometric is not very helpfull.
Regards,

| Well, I am a mainframe programmer hoping to get my foot in the door. I am a decent programmer, but I think I would prefer a networking or Internet position. But nobody wants to look at you unless you have lots of experience in that particular field. So I am trying anything that will get an employer to take me more seriously as a potential candidate. | |

I know what you mean. I had an interview with a web design firm here in Dayton. I think the lack of experience really knocked me out of the race for employment there. So I'm hoping getting this certification will help, plus I got certified by BrainBench in HTML and JavaScript as well. I'll do what I can to get people to see that I can do the job.

| If you want the 25% off, call CompTIA NOT Sylvan. I made that mistake and they weren't very pleasant to me. It says right on their website to call them to get a discount and they didn't even know what I was talking about! CompTIA will give you a code and you give that to Sylvan when booking your exam to get the discount. CompTIA didn't even ask me for proof if I was certified with them. | |
|
| Just call up Sylvan and say you have a Promotional Code : ACNICP . The codes are all the same i think.

| I plan to find a job in the Internet area and eventually become CIW certified. Since iNet+ cert. is exempted from the Foundation exam of the CIW and I find the topics very
interesting after reading the Sybex book on
iNet+.
I actually dropped my plan to become a MCSE+I

| I took it for the general knowledge and to eventually advance my career. Sure it's a bit of a basic exam, but I think progressively gaining certs and verifiable education shows an employer that your willing and able to learn. Only two out of ten techs I most recently worked with possessed any certs beyond A+, and even though all ten of us probably have similar skill levels, give or take, the first two of us, and thus far the only two to have moved on, that have moved on to bigger and better jobs in the last year possessed additional certs. I definitely think having the knowledge AND a cert to back it up helps immensely. | |
|
| Yes, after I get my A+, I plan to do CCNA and maybe get an MCP or two -- I really don't want to take too many advanced certs before I get a job in that field, because then I'd just be a "paper engineer" and I doubt if that would impress anyone. Hopefully, these inroductory certificates will ley me get my foot in the door, and then some of the more advanced ones will help me to bet a better salary. Of course, it COULD all be a pipe dream . . . | |
|
| I have heard of this level1 CIW but could not find much information on the matter.. help?
I agree with your reply, Are general goal is the old mighty $. by the way you must call comptia for a promotional code before registering for test.
Bye
