Author New webmaster certification

2000-05-05, 9:06 pm

I just came back from beta test of the new Associate Technology specialist - Web developement. To acieve this certification you need to pass 2 elective exams - Web development and web administration plus one core technologies exam.

This is similat to CIW tracks, but it's brand new, and I like it more than CIW.

There are other electives, like tech support, porgramming. Details at www.chauncey.com/NWCET.html

At this time only web and database tracks are available for beta testing.

The good news is that beta exams are free. You can't go wrong with that. Even if you don't pass, you will at least know what to expect on the exam next time. Hurry up, they are planning to close beta exams soon.

The core exam is only $50.00

To register, call Sylvam Prometric at
1-877-636-6866 and tell that you want to register for ATS beta exams

I must warn you that the web development exam is pretty hard. It is similat to I-NET+, but goes into more details on programming. Also, there are quite a few questions on XML and Java. I only seen a couple on HTML. Several on graphic files.

Also, several questions on web server administration, some on e-commerce. If you are not an experienced web developer, you will probably not pass. You must have experience with server administration, cgi script issues, java applets, perl, database connectivity, planning web projects.

I think it's worth a try now while it's free. I am not sure how I did. I'll let you know when I get my results.
