Just passed today-79%

| Just passed the i-net+ test today and I must say that is not as easy as I thought. I studied with the Sybex book and test pro material.
I was surprised that only a few questions from the test pro material surfaced during the exam.
Most of what I remember that you should brush up on is:
1)Network devices and their functions (Routers,Bridges,Gateways, etc)
2)Types and functions of different servers (Proxy,Caching,SQL, List, etc)
3)Which protocols are connection orientated (TCP, UDP, etc)
4)Known what makes up a FQDN
5)Know what Javascript, PERL, C++, VBScript, etc they do and the differences of each. I got a handful of different questions involving these.
6)Know that Flash is used for Vector-based websites. Not Shockwave.
7)Know that NAPs are directly connected to the backbone.
8)Know that the most bandwidth is from an OC-3 line.
9)Know what kind of encryption uses one key to send and receive-Private key encryption.
10)Know that SET is used for credit card transactions.
11)Know what CGI stands for- Common Gateway Interface.
12)GIF89a used for animation.
13)Know how to break down how long it takes to download a file from the formula:
Time of download= (Size of Page -Divided by- Available Bandwidth) Got one question on this.
14)Know the difference between push and pull technologies.
This is all I have time for right now. If you have taken the Network + test, like I have then you have got at least half of the test aced. I am sorry that I cannot remember the actual questions but, I do know that just using the Test-pro material will not give you enough to pass. I thought the Sybex i-net+ study guide was really good at giving the information needed to pass. I got most of my accurate information to pass from this book.
This being a new exam, there will be more study material available that might be better. I am just glad I got it over with and can now go back to my Microsoft track.
This is my first posting on this site and I will try to post again as soon as I research more of what I remember from the test.
This site and has helped me greatly! Good Job! and Good Luck to everyone going toward this test. YOU CAN DO IT! :> )

| Congradulations on the test!
I just passed the Network+ exam and I am now in the process of preparing for the I-Net exam. Study material for this exam is scarce. I ordered the Dummies book for I-Net+. Should be getting it in a couple of days from Barnes & Noble. Thank you for posting tips about the exam. I shall print it out and utilize it along with my other study notes. It would be nice if there were a few braindumps for this exam listed on the internet. But, I guess thats asking for too much. Thank Again.. Sincerely, Richard | |
