Author Salary levels for i-net+ certified professionals?

2000-03-30, 4:32 am

Hi I would like to know what kind of salary levels can an i-net+ certified internet professional expect at the entry level jobs in the US and Canada. If a person has only i-net+ certification and no other certification, does he get a job easily? Thanks from the United Arab Emirates.

While there are always exceptions, I think most people here will agree that i-Net+ by itself is not much use in getting a job. It is such a basic exam. It prepares you for more in depth training in Internet/web career paths such as Internet system administration and web design.

Another way i-Net+ may help is for womeone with A+, Network+, i-Net+, and possible one or two MS Office certifications to show a well rounded knowledgebase for something like help desk.

I concur with Joseph. The cert isn't worth much by itself. Besides combining like Joseph said to qualify for a help desk job, it also might go good with certs or skills related to web site development or management. Do you know HTML, Javascript, or other web programming languages or technologies?

I believe the McDonalds around here pay $6.50 an hour

Thanks guys for the inputs. Baz, I know HTML and Javascript. Actually what I want to be is an Internet marketing professional. I feel if I have an i-net+ cert, it would help in showing prospective clients that I understand the technology as well.

Then the i-net+ does seem to make some sense for you. But I still would have no idea what kind of salary an "internet marketing professional" could expect.

before you all dis this cert too much, there is an isp in syracuse, ny that is looking for i-net+ certifieds to staff their help desk. Granted, they would prefer ccna's but since they can't find enough they are turning to the i-net+. the job starts in the mid 30k range.

Well no wonder they can't get any CCNA's...No CCNA in their right mind would take mid $30k!! Besides they'd be bored as hell as a help desk operator.

Personally, i-Net+ is still new and i think you'd have a better shot at getting a job here in the US with an MCP in NT Server. But if an Internet related position is what you're looking for, then I would say stick with your HTML and other programming experience... there's always a need for good programmers, web programmers at that. Especially with E-Commerce on the rise.

The competition for admin type jobs, in my opinion, is pretty fierce right now.

Salary wise? Like i said Inet+ is kinda too new. It would be hard to find someone that could accurately say, "I make $xx,xxx a year BECAUSE of my i-Net+ certification"

I don't know about your market, but here a CCNA is only worth about 40k. With a lot of experiance they are worth more then that, but still, for a new CCNA 35k isn't bad here. And for an i-net+ to be considered for the same job is darn good indeed.

Well, in the DC Metro area, you can make Mid to upper $30k, without a degree or any certifications. Add a degree and your in the Mid to Upper $40k range. Start adding certs and it takes off. I know one MCSE without a degree is making low $50k, and one with a degree is making $75k. Granted the DC area is a pretty hot IT market.
