Author Practice test on ExamNotes web site

Question 50 in the practice test on the ExamNotes main page gives an IP address of 190.28.2.100 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and then goes on with the question about why can't the user connect to the internet. My question is...isn't that IP address a Class B address, and the subnet mask a Class C default mask??? Or am I missing something?

It's perfectly normal to have subnet mask 255.255.255.0 on a class B address, especialy if you got it from an ISP.

ISPs get their blocks of addresses from larger ISPs, and often they have subnettet class B and class A addresses.

For example, I have I DSL line at home, and my IP is a class A address with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0

You should not call a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 a class C subnet mask. It is a default mask for class C network, it only means that class C network normaly would use this mask, but it can does not mean that it cannot be used with other addresses.
