Speeding up the server
|
|
|
| Which of the following is an effective way to speed up Web page download time for end users?
A) Proxy/cache server*
B) Additional RAM on the web server
C) Additional hard disk space on the web server
D) VPN
I thought it might be RAM. Any thoughts?

| answer is to use a Proxy/cache server, as it means that if the page has already been downloaded, you will not have to go across the wire back to the original srever. You will instead find the same page stored on your Proxy server located locally on your network, thus available to you the user faster.
Makes sense?

| Thanks.
Yes that was my first thought too. It seemed too obvious. I guess it is time to take the test, I am reading things into the question.

I always tell my students: read the question, not INTO the question... which I have been guilty of doing many a times!
