| I just purchased a new motherboard to go along with my "fairly old" Pentium IV CPU. The motherboard I bought only has slots for 2 ddr ram. I purchased 2 ddr sticks and installed them. I can turn the computer on, but nothing comes on the screen. The cd drives continuously stay lit. Is it possible that the cpu doesn't support the ddr and i need to buy a new cpu that does. What could possibly be the problem? | |

| Hello:
I find your symptoms confusing (esp. the always on CDROM light).
Replacing a motherboard is a big job. You have to disconnect everything, and reconnect it all --correctly. Recheck all the connections. Perhaps the motherboard book (that should have accompanied the new motherboard) can help you with that.
All things being equal, DDR SDRAM & Pentium 4 are compatible.
Don't forget to safeguard against ESD

| Thanks! Oh, could it be possible that the ddr's are mismatched....heck, I don't know. | |

| Hello:
Sounds like you already know the answer to your own (real?) problem.
Checking the connections comes before checking for mismatched RAM sticks, in the trouble shooting sequence.
