Need help! my PC was getting slower and the same for my dial up internet whenever I click on anything. I cleaned it up by removing the pop-up programs in the Control panel, the internet temporary files and old game softwares.

Now, I can't connect to the internet. Everytime, I click on the SBC Yahoo dial up. My PC shuted down and restarted. Or if I did connect, when the browser is launching, the PC suddently shuted down. What should I do to get it to work? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hello:

You might have a virus. Run your antivirus program.

Hi,
I ran the virus scan on the whole system. Everything is normal. No virus. Thanks

Hello:

Have you made any changes to your computer recently --like add software/hardware?

Hi,
I did not make any change on hard ware. I removed pop-up/internet search pop up in the control panel, some old game softwares, and clean out cookies, and internet temporary files. Also empty recycle bin

This is a common problem. Shut down your machine. Re-seat your memory. Re-seat all your other cards while you have the top off.
Do you turn your computer off at night or do you leave it on all the time? When your computer warms up and cools off you can introduce "chip creep". This is what happens when the components expand and contract.

Try re-seating everything and see if that doesn't fix it.

After doing the re-seating thing, you may want to run a diagnostics on your modem since your problems seem to be when your trying to connect.

A dignostic utility should be available from the manufacturer.

I did all of the above but it still had the same problem. I have no problem connecting to the internet. The only problem is that while I am in the browser surfing the internet, the computer automaticlly turn off and restart again. This is not happening if I dont's use the internet. So I don't think it is hard ware problem. Please advise. Thank you.

I believe there is still a chance of hardware problem. Since the system reboots randomly, I'd check out the power supply. Power supply might not be able to hold the load generated by the computer system.

Also, if you have a spare modem, I'd pop it in the system and give that a try. I've seen modems cause a system not to even post before. Modem failure could be the cause of the issue you are facing.

I had a customer with the same problem and every time he would try to get on sbc it would shut down or reset on him.Well what i did was remove a file called ipinsight from add and remove.Once i did this it solved his problem. What i later found out this one file conflicted with service pack 2.Please correct me if i am wrong on this.If that is not your problem then i would say hardware failure somewere.Good luck and let me know if this worked.(Make sure you make a restore point before removing this file.)
