Author A+ vs. Network+ which test is harder?

I'm curious...

The Network+ requires a 646/900 to pass while the A+ exam requires 515/900 for Core and 505/900 for OS Technologies.

Does this mean that the A+ is more difficult so the scores are more forgiving?

From what I have read and have taken as far as the practice tests are concerned it seems like you have to memorize more stuff for the A+ Core test when compared to the other two.

Any ideas for those of you that have taken all 3 tests.

Thanks.

Well, A+ was pretty easy when it was adaptive. However that all has changed. I would put them just about equal nowadays. Network+ being slightly harder, but A+ will wear you out with the zillion questions.

What did the adaptive test do differently back in the days? I've heard different things about it and I feel kinda bummed out for not taking it when it was like that.

Adaptive test had less questions, was more random, and would base some of its questions on your previous answers. It would also shut down automatically once you passed (or failed).

I guess that the Network+ is harder. Neither are very difficult IF you know the material.

Ohh okay... The adaptive sounds like a lot more fun than the current exam format. Pity they had to change it.

If the Network+ is harder by comparison of style without regard to content I guess I would do better then. I'm not a networking kind of guy and I think it was a fluke that I passed the Network+ the first time around. I'm more of a PC Support kind of person anyways, just need to work on the printers some more.

I had trouble with the printers too. They probably changed A+ for two reasons: 1.) To catch up with the times 2.) Too many people were passing. You must have some failures.

That's true. I don't think I've ever heard or seen anyone fail either or both of the A+ exams at least from my personal experience. I definately don't want to be the first.

I thought the A+ OS was the hardest because of all the different programs and OS there are. Network + was a breeze as was A+ Core. But if you study you will have no problems with any of them.

Funny, I thought it was the other way around.

Someone suggested that I take the both sides of the A+ certification exam together, that is, the OS and hardware tests on the same day.

Does this make sense?

Purely a matter of personal preference. If this is your first cert exam, I would suggest taking them seperately. If you are an old hand at this then take'em both. Do you feel like you are well prepared and have a firm grasp of the objectives? Back-to-back can be a little intimidating for the first timer but if you are fairly confident, go for it. It's really up to you.

Hell if you are ready go for it.

I did them seperately.

Since A+ was my first IT exam I decided to take them a week apart. Like Supertech said, it's probably better that way if you're new to the whole process.

But everyone's different. Some people thought of it like going to the dentist...getting it over with all at once is better.

I have taken both test. I have to say that the A+ is harder in that it is two test and a little more to learn.

When I took my Network+ test I was in and out in less then 6 mins. The test administrator thought I was out of the room to get a pen. When I said I was done he argued with me. But realized I was done when my passing sheet was ready to print out.

I highly recommend the test kings for this test as well as any other test your going to take.

I teach A+, Networ+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE and CCNA. Certified by the state of CA. I tell all my students one of the best investments they can make next to study time is buying the test kings.

I failed the a+ hardware the first time i wrote it. my first time writeign an exam, so gimem a break , i passed it later on, then wrote the OS exam, and passed them both with relatively high scores. I wrote the N+ about 4-5 weeks ago, took me bout 50 mins, btu passed with 896...anyways, it hought the A+ was harder. more to cover, more work, mroe to memorize, and yes, the Test King is great for exams. I had it for N+. i wish i had it for A+... gl

I agree w/ DrgnMstr. A+ OS is the hardest, A+ Core and Net+ was a breeze. In A+ OS, the questions I hate most is trying to locate a tool (ex: 9X Dev Mgr and 2000/XP Dev Mgr) or even tools/commands/switches for different types of OSes.

I passed today but barely. I sort of underestimated it because I have been scoring high on the practice exams. I was using SelfTest.KaplanIT.com. They were usually really good.

I found Net+ to be the easiest though I did study hardest for it. Of the two A+, I found the OS hardest but I think that was because of my lack of experience back when I took it.

I'd recommend getting them both done on the same day, thats what I did, the two are interrelated anyway so it makes sense.

Network+ much easier than A+. A+ Software easier than A+ Hardware. Would not take both A+ tests on the same day. Good luck.

Guess I'm gonna break from the trend. I thought N+ was harder. It seemed easier, but that is because I studied much harder for N+ than A+. Now if you want a challenge, switch from using MS and try to learn your L+ in less than a month. That exam will kick your behind.

On a side note about A+, I have to disagree with everyone who said that the A+ adaptive was easier than the new one. Maybe it ius just because the new objectives (mainly the OS) is easier but I have yet to hear of anyone (in my area) failing the new A+ exam. In fact I had a friend who studied no OS and just studied hardware and passed both on the same day. Is he a good with the OS? I say no, because you just have to listen to him explain something to know that he does not know what he is talking about. The adaptive at least penalized you if you missed a question on a subject (by asking you another question on the same subject). Granted I agree that it should have been longer.
