| Can you guys help me out with these questions please?
1. You want to set-up Performance Monitor to monitor the PDC during peak
usage times only. How do you do this? (That's the entire question - I
assume they meant you want to have PM run automatically...)
A. Configure the Performance Monitor log to gather information during
specific times.
B. Configure the Performance Monitor report to gather information during
specific times.
C. Configure the Schedule Service to start and stop Performance Monitor at
specific times
D. Use diskperf utility
2.You have a single domain with 1 PDC and 10 BDCs Users are reporting
slow logon on the PDC. You check the server process with Performance
Monitor and see that the average logon/sec is 5 or higher. What should you
do to increase logon performance?
A. Add more memory to the PDC
B. Increase the replication pulse maximum register value
C. Decrease the replication governor register value
D. Add more BDCs
3.The amount of time required for users in your domain to access files
from one of the partitions on your NT server has doubled over the last
month. Your NT machine has 3 physical disks with two partitions on each.
What is the best counter to research this problem?
A. LogicalDisk object counters
B. Memory object counters
C. PhysicalDisk object counters
D. Server object counters
E. System object counters
4.One of the physical disks on your PDC is experiencing performance
problems due to file fragmentation. The physical disk consists of a single
NTFS partition. How can you defragment this disk?
A. Run Defrag.Exe from the command prompt
B. Run Defrag32.Exe from the command prompt
C. Run DiagPerf.Exe from the command prompt
D. Perform a backup of the partition, reformat the partition and restore
the files from backup
(I remember reading that NT doesn't come with a defragmentor, because it's supposed to defragment files on the file, all the time)
5. NT can inter-operate with multiple Netware servers. Which tool
provides a single network logon for Netware 2.x and 3.x users?
A. DSMN
B. GSNW
C. CSNW
D. Migration Tool for NetWare
(also, what is dsmn?)
6. All domains in your company trust the MIS domain. What types of user
accounts or groups can be added to a global group in the MIS domain?
A. Only user accounts from the MIS domain
B. User accounts from both the MIS domain and from any trusting domain
C. User accounts and other global groups from the MIS domain
D. User accounts from both the MIS domain and from any trusting domain
along with local groups from any of the trusting domains
(is this a or c, and why?)
Thanks everyone! Getting close to exam time, so I'll be asking a lot more questions. Thank you. | |

| I forgot this one...
7. You want to create a database of measurement information that will be
used for later analysis of your windows NT server network. Which tool or
tools can you
use to collect the data? Choose all that apply.
A. Microsoft Access
B. Response Probe
C. Performance Monitor
D. Windows NT server Network Monitor
(a and c?)

I believe the answer to this one is "A"
(I can't stand this question because who in God's green earth is still running a Netware 2.x box?) Oldest one's I still see kicking around are Netware 3.12 boxes.
Anyway, DSMN - Microsoft Directory Service Manager for NetWare. It is used to synchronize user accounts between your Windows NT server and one or more Novell NetWare servers.
With NetWare 2.x and 3.x servers, any changes made to user and/or group accounts
must be made at each individual server. If there are multiple NetWare servers, changes must be made manually for each of these servers. DSMN allows changes made to domain user accounts to be replicated automatically to all NetWare servers being managed by your Windows NT server.
I'll try to get to the other questions tomorrow or over the weekend unless other people get to them first ok? Gotta hit the sack early tonight.
Hope this Helps!!

| here goes
1 C
2 d
4 d
5 a
6 a - global groups can only contain users - therefore C is incorrect. And users are from the trusted domain.
looking up 3 get back to you
Hope this helps

| Here's what I'd go with
1) - "C"
2) - "D" - The classic Microsoft solution. Even though we already have 10, just throw more BDC's at the problem, that'll fix it.
3) - "A" - Usually you'd want to look at Logical disk counters when just looking at a partition and not the entire Physical disk. Since we are talking about access time of files on a partition, I'd use Logical disk counters for this one.
4) - "D" - Sorry, you're outta luck with NT, no native Defrag utility available.
5) - "A" - Already dsicussed this in previous post
6) - "A" - A Global group can only contain User accounts from the Domain where the Global groups was created.
Good luck to you on the Exam, you'll do fine!

Ya, I'd go with "A" and "C" as well.
