| What the heck is a response probe. How is it installed. How is it used? | |
|
| According to the "Microsoft Press Book" I have...
Response probe: is a utility for applying controlled stress of a specific resource on a system and observing its response....
This is done for the purposes of determining maximum throughput and performance charactoristics before analyzing capacity in a production enviroment.
it is in the same area as Performace Monitor and Network Monitor......(check it out in the books)......
Hope this helps....(stole that line from SPID)

| Is it installed by default? I can't seem to find it in my NT server. I may be going blind tho... Is this on the exam? | |
|
| Hi jayjay22,
It is not installed by default.
Response Probe 2.3 is on the Windows NT Resource Kit 4.0 CD in the Performance Tools group in \PerfTool\Probe\Probe.exe.
I did not encounter any question on my Enterprise exam that asked about the Response Probe, but I took it before they changed the format of the exam to fixed length so your mileage may vary.
Hope this Helps!! <-- that's the Original recipe there jettierat

| I don't have the NT 4.o resource kit. Is there some other way I can D/L it? I cant seem to find it on microsofts site. | |
|
| As far as I know, there are only two ways to get it. One is through a subscription to Technet (which would include the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit). The other way is by purchasing the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit itself.
I do not believe you can D/L the Response Probe Utility itself, but I could be wrong.....
Anyone else have any info?
