| Is there anybody out there that could help me with troubleshooting a problem that I am having, setting up a trust with the two computers that I have networked at my home. Hopefully, this problem is a fundamental one that I just might be overlooking. Here is the scenerio of how I have my computers hooked-up and some of the observations that I made, trying to set up the trust:
1) In creating the trust, I set it up exactly as what was laid out in my lab manual. Computer #1 is set up as a PDC (Domain1\Server1) and Computer #2 is set up as a PDC (Domain2\Server2). I set up a two-way trust; one direction at a time. Each time I got a verification that the trust was set up. But when I logged-out and logged back in, the original domain was the only choice in the domain-box.
2) I attempted several different versions of the set-up using different Administrator accounts on each computer. Each computer is set-up with two different administrator accounts: Computer #1=Administrator/password and user1/pass1, and Computer #2= Administrator/password and user2/pass2. All Administrator accounts are members of the "Domain Admins" Group. One time, I would attempt the set-up using the same Administrator/password account on both computers and another time I would attempt the set-up using different administrator account names on each computer. Neither way worked.
3) I confirmed that the network was working; I could see both domains in "Network Neighborhood" and "Server Manager", I could access folders on each computer, but not files? I set up my Network Bindings order on all services with NETBEUI, first on the binding order and then TCP/IP.
4) I have DHCP and WINS setup on Computer #1. I did a ipconfig/all on both computers and it appears that everything is functioning properly. I also pinged each computer by their NETBIOS computer names (Server1 and Server2) and I got the four responses. (Is there another test that I could use to determine if WINS is functioning? I also checked "Event Viewer" and there were no errors.
5) I also checked in "Server Manager" for any open sessions that might be occurring, and disconnected any open sessions
I am totally perplexed as to what I may be doing wrong. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
