F@CK MICROSOFT!!!!!!
|
|
|
| I FINALLY PASSED SERVER AFTER 2 ATTEMPT!!
IT"S CRAZY cAUSE I STUDYED WITH :
TRANScENDER,SELF TEST,BOOKS,EXAMNOTES AND OTHER WEBSITES....ETC>.
AND THE FIRST TIME I FAILED FOR 2 QUESTIONS:666!!!(DEVIL NUMBER!!!)
2 ND TIME FOR 1 QUESTION : 700!!!
AND I HAD 766 THE NEXT ATTEMPT!!
THE THING IS I HAD A LOT OF QUESTION ABOUT THINGS WHO REALLY HAVE NOTHING TO DEAL WITH NT SERVER : IIS,TCP/IP,ENTERPRISE..
MY FRIENDS PASSED THE SAME EXAM 2 MONTH BEFORE AND THEY WERE HERE WEN I PASSED IT!
THEY TOLD ME THE EXAM IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOW! I THINK MICROSOFT IS TRYING TO MAKE PEOPLE FAIL TO HAVE MORE REGISTRATION FOR WIN 2000 ,IT"S REALLY BAD CAUSE I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT AGAIN!.
OH YES!! IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME IF I CAN GET A JOB WITH MCP ?? CAUSE I REALLY NEED MONEY!!
|
| Was it really that bad ? I am taking it on Wednesday - I am using Troytec, braindumps and Transcender
Tell me more | |
|
| Just one more thing...how can they be asking questions on IIS and Enterprise subjects when they have separate exams for that ?
Anyway, I will find out on Weds and report back to this site so watch this space !!!
Freak, what do you reckon to all this - a red herring or the truth ?
| |
|
| I tend to disagree with your logic MC. IIS, TCP/IP, and trust relationships are an integral part of NT Server 4.0. I've also seen reports here and on other boards that some of the Server tests were filled with NetWare questions. | |

I could not agree with you more, Ciscoteacher. They are integral parts indeed. And MC, please be careful w/ your vocabulary and the Upper Case thing too

| www.troytec.com - condensed study guides that are supposed to be "the definitive document"
I have 3 and I must say that they are quite concise and succinct.
Also they guarantee a pass with 10 -12 hours of study or money back - no quibble
Believe me - I will be fully utilising the guarantee if I fail !!!!!!!!!!!!!
| |
|
| YO , THE THING IS OF COURSE IT'S PART OF SERVER ,BUT THE QUESTION ABOUT SPECIFIC TCP/IP OR IIS QUESTION ARE NOT IN THE BOOK OR IN EITHER TRANSCENDER OR SELF TEST SO HOW WE HAVE TO STUDY FOR IT???
AND MAN < I DONT HAVE TO BE CARREFULL WITH MY LANGUAGE <I TELL WAHT I THINK OK??
YOU ARE NOT MY DAD!! | |
|
| don't worry phillangel you will have it if you study hard. the thing i can tell you is
study a lot of NETWARE topics cause i had between 8 to 14 question about the interoperability of NETWARE/NT.
AND EXAMNOTES IS A GREAT WEBSITE TO STUDY !!
IF YOU CAN HAVE THE PRACTICE TEST , IT WILL HELP YOU A LOT!!!!!!!
ex: in troubleshooting ,when you see they
use NW LINK and they ask you what kind of problem can be the reason for the disfuctionment
in most of case is : WRONG FRAME TYPE
NOW MR.FREAK , i have nothing against microsoft , i just think it's bad from them to make exams more difficult cause it's the end of the year. and i know what i am talking about.
CAUSE of course they can ask you about IP adress , about Tcp , about protocols as long as the answer is on the NT SERVER BOOK!!
type of question i had :
What is the maximum lifetime of an entry in the ARP cache?
A. Two minutes on unused entries and ten minutes on re-used entries.
B. Until the machine is restarted.
C. 360 minutes.
An NT device on a TCP/IP network tries to discover the MAC address of a destination machine which it has determined to be on the same subnet. The first step is to check the ARP cache. If this fails what does the machine do next?
A. Contacts a WINS Server.
B. Broadcasts.
C. Displays a dialog box to the user asking for the destination MAC address before updating the registry.
D. Queries DHCP.
E. Checks the ARP file in %Systemroot%\System32\Drivers\
etc
i was looking for the answers but i found it only in TCP/IP BOOKS!
I HOPE I WILL NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM FOR WORKSTATION .....
TAKE CARE AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU PEOPLE WHO WILL PASS IT SOON ...
IT'S Not that hard , but the thing is i am not really perfect in english so i doesnt helped me cause they try to trap you with words.
| |
|
| So i believe the answers for those 2 questions as a guess would be:
Until the machine is restarted
The other I gues would either be queries the DHCP or the WINS ??
Just guessing... any feedback from anyone on that ?
Now I am starting to worry !!
The Incorrect frametype question is in all the study guides and dumps though
Did they ask you any specific IP address calculation questions - I always get stuck on that stuff - any feedback on an easy way to remember ?
HELP !!! MY TEST IS TOMORROW !!!!!!!!!!!

| Sorry to say but I had it rough passing Server in August. Finally passed on my 3rd time! Enterprise was very close to Server Workstation I found simple. But I have to say that after failing Server my pass was finally a 933, I think.
MC those questions were similar to mine. It felt like they were out of left field. You are rigth that they were not in EE or Transcenders for Server but they were in Enterprise start doing some of those questions.
Remember that WS, Server,Enterprise are the cores needed for the upgrade test. ALso they are closely relatedto each other so studying for all 3 together might not be a bad idea.
Just an opinion,

| Does anyone know the answers to the questions about ARP cache and MAC questions ?
I dont have time to wade thru all the books.
Cheers

ARP cache entries are valid for 2 mn, up to 10 mn if used again before the 2mn are up.
As for NetBIOS resolution, this question cannot be answered as asked. It depends on which kind of node your machine, i.e. whether you are WINS enabled or not. The order of search for netbios resolution for a WINS enabled client is:
local host
NetBIOS cache
WINS
Broadcast
LMHOSTS
HOSTS
DNS
The last two only if you selected to have dns lookup for wins resolution...
If you are not wins-enabled, then you are a B node (B as in Broadcast)
Local Host
netBIOS cache
Broadcast
LMHOSTS
HOSTS
DNS
If you are wins enabled, you are an H node (H as in Hybrid, because you do point to point first, then broadcast)
You can see what node you are by doing ipconfig /all and looking up the node type -- the third line if memory serves...
BTW, I teach 803 and 922, the two classes needed to pass the server exam, and I teach both items you mentioned in your question list: ARP and netBIOS resolution. It is in the MOC.
As for language, I may not be your dad, but I am allowed to express my displeasure at reading the poor choice of words that you came up with, just as much as you are allowed to use them. I did not TELL you not to use that type of language. I ASKED you to refrain. Big difference...
I don't think Microsoft is making their exams harder based on those questions, as I had very similar stuff myself when I took Server long ago in what seems to be a galaxy far, far away
Enjoy the ride,

| Thats what I heard as well.
Have you done enterprise yet ? Is it adaptive ?
|
| Enterprise used to be adaptive when I took it, but all the people who came to my training center to take it recently got the 55 question, non-adaptive version...

Thank you for your post. I appreciate your visiting my site, and am happy that it could be of some help to you. Congrats on your pass!
Personally, I thought that Enterprise was the hardest MCSE test, followed by Proxy and IIS...

Best way to study for enterprise is to first make sure you have all the server and workstation info down pat, as 60% of your questions will come from there.
Then, you should train yourself using prep tests to recognize whether questions are simple server questions, or real enterprise questions.
Also, play a lot w/ Performance Monitor, and get acquainted w/ the couters and their threshold values.
Know your WINS and DHCP, DNS and the usual suspects... use transcenders and you will do fine.
