I am writing on Tuesday and I am having trouble finding info on Import Export Servers. Well, what I am having trouble is finding sources that do not differ. I read today that only Domain Controllers can be import. But I have read elsewhere the opposite. Can anyone tell me what can Import and what can export?

Is It this:

Export | Import
--------------|---------
PDC | PDC
BDC | BDC
Workstation |
Member Server |

A windows NT server can serve as an export server, an import computer, or both.
The left side of the Directory Replication dialog box defines export properties. The right side of the Directory export dialog box defines import properties.
In an export -import relationship the first machine normally configured is the export computer. This machine which has to be an NT server will contain the directory structure to be duplicated on the import computer. the import computer can be any nt machine ie server or workstation. I hope this helps sat for server yesterday.

Alright cool. I have all that. What I need to know is:

Export: Workstations,95, PDC, BDC, OS2?

Import: PDC and BDC's?

Is that right? What machines can and cannot Import Export?

The export machine has to be an nt server period. The import computer can be a windows NT server, a Windows nt workstation or a LAN Manager OS/2 server. I think that you have it correct but just need to turn it around. I hope this helps!!

Thanks for the help. I was reading one thing and transcenders was telling me a different thing all together. There are just a few things that I need to tie together for the exam and they all seem to be the things that differ from book to book. Like the question about installing printer drivers. Some say install for all platforms on your network and others say that NT4 installs by default so don't choose it and install just the other drivers. Crazy. But thanks for the help. I have it straight now.
