new to Workstation

| hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum. anyway, i'm considering going for the Workstation exam to get my MCP, although I know its retiring 12/31, so what EXACTLY does that mean? if i get it now, will I have to upgrade later for my MCP or should I wait until after 12/31 to get Workstation. Also, I keep hearing, take Workstation first, then the others. Thanks. | |

| NT 4 exams retire December 31, 2000. If you pass the Workstation exam, you will be an MCP, but after December 31, 2001 you will not be considered certified by Microsoft's eyes. Basically, if you pass and take the Workstation test by December 31st, you have until December 31, 2001 to take Windows 2000 Professional or another Windows 2000 exam to remain a current/active MCP.
My advice is that if you are just starting out to earn your MCSE, go for the Windows 2000 track. Do not put up with the stress of trying to take several test by the December 31st deadline. If you are just looking to get MCP status, take the Workstation exam and then take the Windows 2000 Professional exam while certain certain familiar concepts are fresh in your mind.
Good luck:-) |
