Author Testing tomorrow - 2 questions to clarify

2000-10-12, 8:54 pm

I've seen two questions with conflicting answers - one answer from Transcenders, then another from other practice tests and braindumps. If someone could shed some light on them, I'd really appreciate it.

1: You are installing NT from a CD-ROM. You get the following message: "copysinglefile, non-critical error, could not copy file."

Transcenders says that file already exists, others that the CD-ROM is not on the HCL list. I think the latter is BS since you wouln't be able to install NT from a non-supported CD-ROM. Still, every single source I've seen aside from Transcenders has the latter answer.

2: A Workstation connected constantly to the Internet - how to map to a source on the 'Net?

Transcenders says \\website.com.\source. Every other source omits the period after the website. What gives?

Thanks to anyone who responds and to those who have responded to my previous queries. These questions aren't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, but since I've got a shot at 1000, I'm going for it.

peace

As far as the first question, the answer that is in the Microsoft Official curriculum is that the CD-ROM drive is unsupported by Microsoft NT 4.0, ie.,not on the HCL.

Can't help with the second question.

Hi:

I wrote workstation about 1 month ago and got 1000 on it.

The first question:
The answer is that it is not on the HCL. If your CD-ROM is not on the HCL you will get a non-critical error.

The second question:
The other places you read must have forgot to put the period before com. It has to be \\website.com\source for NT to read it properly.

Best wishes and peace to all!!!
