Are Multiple demesions possible?

| I say they are! | |

| WTF is a demesion?
However if you meant dimensions, then yes there are.
In my experience multiple dimensions are like multiple female orgasms, they come in threes.
| Redstar 2006-08-11, 10:36 pm |
| Yes, dimensions | |
| Redstar 2006-08-16, 11:16 pm |
| I will have to say the majority says "yes" multiple demesions are possible! | |
| anthonymaw 2006-08-22, 12:47 am |
| ....depends on what the definition of "dimensions" is. if space is defined as the conventional x-y-z orthogonal coordinate system then there are only 3 known dimensions even though more than 3 dimensions is mathematically possible | |
| Redstar 2006-08-22, 10:24 pm |
| Good point! Don't forget the 4th dimension of time travel too. It's link with the other 3. | |

| According to the current String theories, a minimum of 11 dimensions are not just possible but required for the universe to exist as it does.
These are pretty useless dimenstions though as they are (apparently) curled up and cannot be accessed. So much for hyperspace!

| It is worth noting there are problems with beings such as ourselves existing in more than three spatial dimensions. In 4D, the force of gravity in "hyperspace" would be proprtional to the surface volume--as opposed to surface area in the real world. Hence, gravity would obey an inverse cube law, as opposed to the inverse square law it obeys in our world. Orbits would be unstable, and solar systems could not exist. (I would even speculate everything would collapse to neutron-star densities in 4D space.) Hence, if hperspace exists, I advise you not to go there. | |

| I suppose multiple dimensions are possible. Maybe you could have it off with several women at once multidimensionally with absolutely no conflict of interests?
Otherwise I just can't see the use except maybe for military porpoises.

| Well .. they use dolphins don't they?
Who mentioned the US? Not me!
I'd opt for the softer option with the several time simultaneous women but seem to lack the meditational technique.
Are there other dimensions of Space & indeed Time? Indeed yes! There are many: length, breadth, depth: the special 4th dimension called "Time" and a few others where the dark matter lurks (To answer the Q. correctly.)
| Redstar 2006-12-14, 1:43 pm |
| If dark matter lurks in places would there not be in turn good matter lurking someplace? | |
|
| Yes, at least 4, the 4th time.
The time travel bit, I am doing now, all be it very slowly and only one way...

| highlander257 2007-02-11, 10:50 pm |
| There are actually at least 5 dimensions | |
| Redstar 2007-02-12, 6:30 pm |

| Don't forget the backwards dimension, or is it the forward dimension and this one we're in is the backwards dimension. Well whichever, don't forget it....

|
| Actually, if you look at multiple valuable calculus. You can have as much as demesions you want from x,y,z,r,r1,r2,..etc..
However the key is how do you justify demesions like other people said on this post.
Some of the demesions can exist on Math, some on computer and some only on our estimation...
confusing!!

|
| And most people said "YES" | |

There are actually five different string theories. A unifying M-theory has also been proposed.

Ditto, everybody knows sausage is spelt S A U S A G E and not A D V I C E!!! as you have spelt it.
| hitchcme 2007-07-13, 12:43 am |
| Well, I wouldn't use the word, "possible," because it is mathematically proven that there are 3 dimensions.
The three proven dimension variables are:
height
width
length
or
X
Y
Z
each having to do with an axis.
So, I think maybe your question or pole should be, "Is any Dimension, greater than the 3rd, possible?"
And I just looked up the word, "demesion" everything says, "Did you mean, 'Dimension'"
| hitchcme 2007-07-13, 12:54 am |
| It's funny you say this. Because, Your subject actually doesn't make any sense. You spelt to wrong. Should be spelt too.
the word "to" happens to be a preposition. You can't use a preposition right before an adjective.
the word "hard" is an adjective.
the word "too" happens to be an adverb meaning to a higher degree than normal.
People in glass houses should not count there chickens until they are in a basket, after the cows have come home.

Notice you can still read the line above even though it is not even spelt correctly at all! Your eye will see the first and last letter and not pay attention to the middle letters.
And we care about this because????
|
| Not only are multiple D-I-M-E-N-S-I-O-N-S
possible, but so is horrific spelling. In fact, the latter is PREVALENT, and tends to make one look, well, a little s***id.
| Redstar 2007-08-06, 7:39 pm |
| But, can you read it?
That's the point!!! | |

How do you know multiple D-I-M-E-N-S-I-O-N-S
are possible? | |

| Read "Flatland," by Edwin A. Abbott.
Those who live in a two-dimension world may not be able to imagine a third. Those who live in three dimensions may not be able to imagine a fourth, etc., etc. We live in a three-dimensional world (four, if you consider time). Nothing we know disproves that there may be fifth and sixth dimensions that our sensory apparatus and technology is simply unable to detect.
| Redstar 2007-10-10, 8:32 pm |
| So, how do we detect time? | |
| prezbedard 2007-10-11, 10:32 pm |

You can't time just is. It is the only dimension we can't travel in (yet). See Orson Wells Time Machine
|
| Actually, on reading a bit more about it at:
http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/en...d_Spacetime?/1/
I learned that the three "traditional" dimensions are better defined as "spacelike," and the fourth dimension is "timelike," and they're collectively
known as "spacetimes" | |
| ticoun36 2007-11-20, 8:58 pm |
| I can't take the time necessary to explain how dimensions are formed but suffice it to say up to 8. in the fourth dimension the problem has been which forces are reflected back on which; some say these forces are quantifiable others say they are not. If not as I proclaim then 4th is mirror reflection. 5th moon reflection and 6th sun reflection. more is available if interested | |
|
| man, you guys still debating this topic. The answer is "YES." | |

| In muli-dimension mode, an individual body always exists in the highest dimension. Other existant dimensions are merely accessible one at a time. Duh | |
