Author Server+ exam

I would have asked this question in the
server+ forum, but it seems that no one has posted there in almost a year. Anyway,
I'm finally going to stop proscrastinating and go for my next Cert. I've been torn between Network+ and the CCNA. But as a result of my last interview I really think the Server+ cert would be my best option. You see I've had a couple of interviews and I was asked about my overall server knowledge. Hardware, raid, and disaster recovery and all that.

The problem is Comptia seems to have the only decent study guide out there. I've only found a couple of books that have the lastest changes (2005) and I know nothing about the authors. And quite frankly they didn't receive such great reviews.

My question is, does the Server+ cert carry much weight in the industry, and is the comptia text worth purchasing..

Thanx in advance

Thanks waldo...I forgot all about that site.
My questions have been answered, Looks like i'm going for the Server+ cert. then I'll look at taking the CCNA.

I have the Comptia A+ & Server + along with MCSA and about to finish my MCSE.

I would not say that it has really helped me land a job. But I tend to think that any additional cert along with true experience is what employeers are really looking for. There are those who just read a book and got take the test and have no idea a month latter what they were tested on or how to fix a system.

I will say, CompTia exams are much worse written and graphics in the exams than any of the 10 or so MS exams I've taken.

Thats the problem. Getting that foot in the door to gain the experience. I took a long look at my options and obviously I need a few more certs to even get there.
I have had a few interviews and although my knowledge of certain subject matter was exceptional, I was lacking in certain areas where if I had the cert I am fairly sure I would have had a better chance. Thanks for your input Mike.

Typically catch 22 situation. Probably a way out would be to compromise on the compensation bit to gain employment and the all the all-important experience. Was in a similar situation once upon a time.

Good luck on the Server+ exams.
