service causing system to hang
| hi all,
I have an NT4 server (I know I know) which is having some problems. There are two services that are causing the system to hang. I cannot stop them in the services tab, and cannot change their startup profile as they are trying to start but not quite there (if I try change its startup profile to disabled, I get 'service database locked'). If I go into the windows diagnostic, it tells me the two services are 'pending start'.
So I want to stop these services from even trying to start on a reboot, but even in VGA mode they try to start up. I cant uninstall the program (APC powerchute) as it hangs when its trying to stop the service. Is there a place in the reg where I can disable the service? | |

| Not really familar with NT 4, but I'm pretty sure it has a msconfig. Did you try that? | |

| Boot into safe mode. It won't start extra services. Disable the services from there, then reboot. |
