| Hey, I forget...
I have a xp sp2 workstation and for some resason when I change settings in the internet options - advance tab / NONE of the changes stay. Once I close the browser and reopen it goes back.
Is this is a local policy thing?

| When you say workstation, are you on a network w/ Active Directory installed? If so, then it could be a default setting coming from the domain controller which overrides any local settings.
Also, if you're on a network, it could be your network administrator may have installed a program called something like "Deep Freeze". This is an outside program that freezes the profile so any changes made won't be saved when the user exists. However, you would see that affect in more than your browser.
If a standalone, it could be a policy setting. I'm not near my XP books at the moment, so I'll try to post later if there's a way an admin locks the desktop so no changes are saved on a profile on exit.
It's not a normal thing for user changes to be discarded.

| Could also be that your browser has been hijacked.
google for a program called Hijackthis.
