Application error WinXP-PRO

| Has anyone had a problem like this? If say what did you do. I updated my zone alarm and after that I was uable to execute any of my appilcations. If I click on word, IE, Admin Tools I got message that state that application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000142) application error. I can't even go to CMD. I can't get to anything. I rebooted my system XP will let me logon but I also get a message Rundll32.exe then I click OK it terminat, back to square one I can't do anything. Do I need to reinstall WinXP Pro again? HELP | |

| First try running a virus scan if your computer can.
Then try booting into safe mode, go to your registry and delete entries for zone alarm in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mi
crosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Run
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic
rosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Run
Reboot the machine normally then uninstall Zone Alarm.
SP2 includes a firewall and a pop-up blocker. You can also use Search and Destroy instead of Zone Alarm.
If uninstalling Zone Alarm doesn't work, just reinstall XP.

| Thanks. I tried running Norton for a virus, only found Adware & spyware. Removed that and still the system would not let me execute any appications. So after fool around trying to make it work I decided to just re-istall XP. Now I have to start all over again installing programs. I thought everything would still be in place but NOT! So I am putting on software. XP installed as if I was doing a dual boot. Don't know why I installed it to copy over the same Win folder. Thanks if you a better ideal please let me know. Great start for the New Year. |
