| Hi folks, new poster here so bare with me
Recently I was approached by my work to build and maintain a company network. I nicely informed them that I was a little behind on training, etc..so they asked me to get up to speed ASAP. What I am wondering is...What is the best/quickest route to achieving this goal. I figured the MCSE and CCNA certifications would be the best suited for what I will be doing here. Should I just buy study guides and try to get through them as quickly as possible or should I look for a class? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

| I don't know how behind you are so maybe a little bit of everything. I suggest probably buying some introductory material to networking and at least going through material for the MCSE and CCNA. You may want to look at some CBT material from TestOut!, it is very good for a beginner (but it gets advanced as well). Also, if your company would pay for it you should look into a class, these classes are ridiculously overpriced though. I suggest getting a book called "TCP/IP Clearly Explained" by Loshin and then some good texts on whatever you are using on your network.
CCNA is great but it is actually a bit of a more advanced cert, despite its "entry-level" status. Hope this helps.

| If you are motivated, go for the MCSE first. DONT DO BRAINDUMPS, it will only hurt you. Here is why, because if you go and get your MCSE through cheating, then when you get your MCSE and your employer wants you to do something, AND YOU CANT DO IT BECAUSE YOU REALLY DONT KNOW HOW, then they are going to think you are a waste.
Here is what you do, study for MCSE, and build your network. Sure it wont be easy, but that is how you will learn. It will take lots of time, that is how you will LEARN what you need to know. Hands on experience and a good book will take you further than any class you go to or any thing else for that matter!

| John,
You need to fix your website. I visited it for the first time. Three of the demo's give a 404 error. All the other demos have no sound. And you really need to slow down the speed of the demos. They go by so fast, someone trying to learn it for the first time can't see what's going on because it runs too fast. |
