Author I Hate FTP Programs

I have designed a homepage using Word 2000 and have this feeling of wanting to throw my pc out of the window.

Have been trying to find a website that offers free webspace and have been very successful.

Problem is getting my homepage out there!!!

I am using two FTP programs right now - BladeFTP and Simply Cool FTP but none are cutting it to my chosen websites.

I am using www.tiscali.co.uk
www.150m.com
www.tripod.lycos.co.uk
&
prohosting.com

The basics of FTP connections are:
HOSTNAME - this is usually www. whatever your chosen site was
USER ID
&
PASSWORD

I am doing something wrong if I cannot get my connections right and my site up and running.

I am a beginner here with a lot to say.

YES IT'S FREEBIE ME!!!
But this is for play for now.
I will go pro and pay as soon as I know how to do my thing.
Right now, I am scratching my head.

What's probably best for me is a site that offers its own uploading as FTP sites are too complicated for me.

Are you getting any errors at all? or is it simply not letting you login with the credentials you are supplying?

The FTP Servername / Hostname for all my sites begin with ftp.xxxxxxx.com / uk etc.

Just tried this
ftp.tiscali.co.uk
and got an error using Blade FTP which can be found here http://www.bizunit.com/blade.htm

What am I doing wrong? I am using a slightly older version.

I use WS_FTP Pro. You can download an evaluation version
HERE .

Theres also Cute FTP. I know a lot of people who use this for uploading web pages without problems.

Cute FTP

Not sure if you've looked HERE

It lists all the settings for your FTP Client. Looks as though your hostname should be ftp.myweb.tiscali.co.uk.

I did look there, always thought that the part that said "my web" actually meant my webspace chosen name.
I will retry it.
CuteFTP is evaluation.
I dislike shareware's or evaluations - they often remove unremovable traces of themselves.

If Frontpage extensions are enabled turn them off, at least until the upload is complete. Sometimes FTP is automatically disabled when Frontpage extensions are enabled.
