| I am currently attending Devry University and I am in the ECT program which is an associate degree. I have read a lot of bad experiences with devry and that it doesn't prepare you for anything in the real world.
I don't really like my main class which is Digital Electronics (ECT-112). The professor doesn't really do a good job of teaching the material. I just don't think that's the type of stuff I like.
I guess I am just wondering what I should do. I really don't want to attend a four year university at this time. There is a community college closer to where I live offering similar courses to what I am taking now at Devry.
I just don't want to end up paying for a worthless degree if it doesn't mean anything. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Landon | |

| ALways go with a community college over a private one. You pay a LOT less. | |

| Any other suggestions? | |

| How much you pay can sometimes be relative to quality of education and courses, standards for teachers, facilities, etc. Community colleges aren't always (or even usually) better to attend than a private university. Think of it as an investment in yourself. You usually get what you pay for. Also, if you're thinking of making it in IT, you'll need at least a Bachelor's degree. Look at monster.com, dice.com, recruiting sites, and private company sites for job adds and you'll see that 99% of the decent paying jobs require a bachelors degree or better. I'd know. I just finished my Associates degree, and I realize that I'm not very marketable at all. I am now going to a 4 year shool for my bachelors. I whish I had just gone to a 4 year program to start with since they only accepted half of my credits from the two-year school... | |

| Herzing college is a private college down by Madison Wisconsin that is a hybrid of the technical & university. They have outlets in several major cities as well as on line.
http://us.herzing.edu/madison/
It offers a 3 year bachelor's degree, & allows your certifications to be used for credits as well as your technical college credits. The only draw back is that it is relatively expensive.

| I have to disagree a bit.
I've walked around and auditted a few classes at DeVry and found them to be very intense and educational. My brother graduated from DeVry and is now actually the network admin at the Phoenix office.
I took a look at their class list and breakdown of scheduling, looks well planned as well. The teacher to student ratio is also lower than a community classroom so you receive more one on one there as well.
I myself have never "attended" DeVry, but from what friends and relatives say, DeVry seems to be a worthwhile place to go.
In my personal experience, NEVER EVER attend Remington college. There classes are lacking in all aspects of the classroom including lectures, education (this is a mouse, it is an input device) etc. You leave there with a worthless piece of papaer not even worthy of wiping your arse.
I took two quarters there (GPA 4.0) and got so bored I left.

Yes what about Grammar?
In this case the college is being used in the 'Third person singular'. So I believe enforcer is correct in his use of 'Does'.
Of course I could be talking complete balderdash.
I was talking about enforcer's grammar when he said "
does any of them include spelling?" It would be "do any" rather than "does any." So yes, you are talking complete balderdash.
And yes, I'd like a chocolate chunk cookie.

This is a friggin' message board. As long as it's not a horrible grammar or spelling error who cares?

| I don't really care. Enforcer made fun of the original poster's spelling, and I made fun of Enforcer's grammar. It was all in fun. So go piss up his tree first. Then come talk to me. | |
