| Hi Guys,
Just got the duty of rolling out service pack2.
Boss wants it done ,as every1 is gonna end up gona do it anyway.... Eventually.
Was readingt he whitepaper regarding its deployment through SUS.
Basically we can use either Domain profile or Standard.
Using Domain option, we can control access through ports, either leave it to the user or Not...etc.
Now .. is any one else here gonna be deploying SP2...anytime soon.
We will be testing it on a temp OU or user machines before the serious stuff kicks in.
Any views...?
Cheers. | |

| I'm not a big fan of SUS, but we have some of our network using it. On the rest of the network, we have group policy set for automatic updates every day.
We have decided that we will deploy it with the standard configuration. I downloaded SP2 and tested it on a dozen machines two weeks ago. The only item that affects our network that we may have to change is the firewall settings.
We have already had meetings with all our IT people and we know who will need changes to the firewall settings. All you have to do is change the inf file for the firewall.
We plan on deploying SP2 over the next 3 or 4 days, then using a startup script to copy the new firewall inf file to the machines that need it. | |
