| Please, in the name of God or anything you believe in, how do I get rid of this stupid page that insists on being my "home page" regardless of how many times I disable it.
I´ve already run at least 3 spyware removal tools, Norton and still this thing manages to come back in matter of seconds. I even removed it from the registry, but the minute I launch IE there it is again. I´ve done just about everything. It´s just driving me crazy, because once the page opens if you do not agree with the downloading of something there it won´t let you navigate at all.
It is always this same page: "about:blank"
Any help will be very much appreciated.

| Hijack This is good but only if you are computer savvy, don't mess with it unless you know what you are doing.
My input would be first to try to change your front page in Internet Properties. If you tried this and still have the problem, try uninstalling the program or application that is giving you this headache. Make sure to completely uninstall everything associated with it, go to Find or Search and make sure nothing appears. Then reinstall in custom mode or pay attention to the download and click "no" when asked if you want this specific app to be your front page. Run your Anti-Virus.

| Here's a neat little piece of freeware that lets you see what programs start up from the registry when you boot your computer.

Be careful what you delete, since some programs are actually needed at startup.

| I really wish to thank all of those who helped with this spyware problem. However, all the suggestions presented here have been tried more than once and yet not solution to this nightmare.
I still cannot get rid of the "about:blank" start page. It just keeps coming back no matter what I do.
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the effort.

| Makes Linux look attractive, doesn't it?
Great links on this thread..I learned a little more.
From the link posted by jk:
quote: Double Click on "AppInit_DLLs" located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mi
crosoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\\ The "value" window reveals the hidden file name. (mine was "hlpl.dll", yours may be different!)
It sounds like the hidden file is reactivating the page. I've had to deactivate viruses via digging through the registry also.
Frustrating, but if you can grab onto a word in the malware file, you can do a search for the file name. I had problems w/ a bug calling out via rasautou. By finding Rasman.dll, I found out the malware file names...however, a risky option if you delete the wrong one.
I'd recommend installing Mozilla.

| I just cannot believe I was finally able to get rid of that crap.
It really worked! I was starting to think that I´d be stuck with that for good.
Great tool. Thanks a lot, man.
Take care!
